I applaud the Chinese govt’s efforts(along with zoos all around the globe) in protecting and encouraging the captive breeding of these magnificent creatures……I just wish the Chinese govt would be as active in preventing the illegal trade in poached ivory……Demand for ivory by the Chinese has skyrocketed, with the inevitable increase in poaching of elephants…..
Someone who obviously belongs to the George Carlin school of evolution…..degrade enough habitat……and any species will collapse…….including ourselves……as George said……”the planet isnt going away………we are!”
I saw pandas in Hong Kong years ago and the joke of “eats, shoots and leaves” is true.
There’s not much to see.
To think Harper can’t be bothered to fund the Experimental Lakes Area for two million a year. Something that’s uniquely Canadian and increases man’s scientific knowlege. NHL benchwarmers make that and what do these pandas cost–ten million in total.
Then there’s the closing of a Search and Rescue station in Newfoundland to save a million.
Wow. Penny wise, pound foolish is the Harpainista! mantra.
Now there’s the Native youth who have arrived in Ottawa after their 1600km trek from Hudson Bay. Just in time to be snubbed by the PM and this is the greatest country in the world?
Perhaps the PM should be made to eat bamboo et al to welcome our Panda visitors. I heard that Pandas are not actually “bears” but more related to the racoon species. Anyone know if this is true? imagine a city infested with Pandas instead of racoons.
Interesting. The Prime Minister rolls out the red carpet for two Pandas. Will he do the same for the 7 Cree that walked 1600 kms to Ottawa?
Maybe the pandas aren’t insisting the GG be at their meeting.
Maybe you’re an asshole that has no fucking clue about what you’re talking about.

Talk about mixed up priorities.
Yes, but how often does the PMO get to release backgrounders with phrases like “He is a lively and tender gentleman”.
(referring to the male of the pair – this has been making me giggle all day)
Part of the COODC deal fer sure…….
Warren,
Frankly, it does zilch for me without reciprocity…I mean, what are we sending over there for ten long years? Oh, never mind!
