Boy, it sure is good thing we’re not going to go neg!

Yep.

Good thing.

The attack ad in my mind:

Still: Justin Trudeau in pink feather boa

    (V.O)
    Justin Trudeau
    Just visiting reality from Xenu

Still: grainy black and white, Studio 54

    Like the Rolling Stones
This tour is on its last legs

Still: Justin Bieber, shirtless and deranged in Polish airport

    Like Justin Bieber
    Shirtless and sans pet monkey
    The puppy-love cuteness fades
The sheen comes off another idol
    What remains, the deranged megalomania

    Still: deranged harangue look

    Justin Trudeau
    Just visiting from Xanadu
    The Party’s over

Suddenly I feel the urge to donate to Mr. Trudeau’s campaign.

Good. But it takes more than that to win the war.

      • Cath says:

Right, and more than a million $$$ to sustain the battle.

Yep, Harper has won. Justin will wilt under these attacks.

Let’s just duck back into our armadillo shells for another 3 or 4 years and hope that the party will be ready for prime time in 2018 or so.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Or, come out swinging and give us a real Donnybrook.

Whether they DO something in reply with those funds is another matter.

My old Dad who knows a few things, still works full time running his law practice, makes his payroll every week . . . he compares Stephen Harper to Joe Clark. Out of touch with the true country, never had a real job, never had to make a payroll, couldn’t even be bothered to get a Phd while breathing the rare air, says if Mr. Harper ever had to fight a real Liberal leader . . .

Justin Trudeau vs. Stephen Harper will be as anti climactic as the big boxing match.

    M. Trudeau comes from a family that doesn’t start a fight it can’t win, as this website has already mentioned. He won’t just go neg, he’ll go nuclear.

His problems are going to come later when he has to renew the Liberal party from a governing position, because I think he’s going to win the next election. That’s going to be a tough job, everything that sucks about the party will still suck and his triumph might be short lived, especially if it’s a minority victory. Just visiting from Xanadu indeed. Which could mean the resort in Freeport Grand Bahamas or many other things as well.

I know he said he wouldn’t go negative. But I don’t think his statement will forbid him to go negative in election campaigns -the public has a short memory, and they have come to expect negative advertisements in all political campaigns. Plus, they are F*&^ing effective.

    Warren,

To win, you have to be convinced as a voter that a) you like the guy, b) the guy, in your humble estimation, is ready for the big job and finally, c) you personally are prepared to take that sometimes giant leap of faith into the grand political unknown.

Somwhere along the way, both Dion and Ignatieff faltered with the negative ads being at least a contributing factor. To my mind, there are many a shade of going negative in ads or otherwise. I would go for subtlety and rapid (read) immediate response. In short, hit back within minutes on everything they throw at you. Put another way, take no god damned prisoners.
