JT: inspiring

Here’s a real poll, from a real polling agency, unlike the detritus the Star regularly publishes.

What’s it mean?  It means Justin Trudeau is for real, in the words of my friend at Ipsos, Darrell Bricker.

  1. Reality.Bites says:

Hey, but Harper’s still edging out “None of them” and Mulcair’s beating “Unsure” by almost as much.

  2. Billy Boy says:

Could that be because the nostalgic and/or Catholic Liberals think Pierre, not Jesus, was recently resurrected and that the impressionable kiddies are inspired by the number of Twitter followers Justin has. Nostalgia and being impressionable are pretty deceptive and fleeting qualities, if an election doesn’t happen soon they may disappear.

    • Jason King says:

      Zip it Bill Case

    • Kevin T. says:

Myopia and being obtuse are pretty deceiving and self-defeating behaviours, when the election happens soon they may cause your silly little insults to appear pretty fucking stupid.

      • Billy boy says:

Of course we conveniently ignore that only 8.6% of those polled thought that Justin had the experience to lead Canada.

        • Kevin T. says:

Considering Harper’s never held a real job in his life, I’ll take that number and watch it grow. There won’t be much relevance to that number once he’s PM and fixing Harper’s damage.

          • Billy Boy says:

If only 8% of Canadians think Trudeau is fit to lead Canada in 2015 and he still gets elected, then we need electoral reform more desperately than I thought. And not the AV kind, but the PR kind- you know the kind Trudeau once supported when he still had a couple of progressive ideas reverberating around in his head.

And if Trudeau flops once he’s put under scrutiny? What of the LPC then?

          • Peter says:

But Justin’s first full time job was when he won Papineau riding MP in 2008 and when he was 36 y.o. Then he hardly attended HOC debates and went on his speaking gigs at $10-20,000 a pop and raked in over $200K. The guy was an opportunistic money machine and now he’s gonna be the next Liberal leader. How will the Libs paint that Justin with lipstick?

    • I ♥ Justin says:

How can you say such disrespectable things about Pierre, Justin and Jesus. I am a Twitter follower as are most of my friends who are 18 and even older. Justin relates to us because he is so right about what he says to us. Our love for Justin is real and he will win and be a fantastic future prime minister too.

      • Billy Boy says:

“I love Justin”, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. The truly amazing thing is that I honestly can’t tell if you are being sarcastic, or you are parodying the kiddies or worse if you are for real. Do you have any idea how obsequious and sycophantic you sound? You might be forgiven if you were a 12 yr. old fawning over Justin Bieber but you say you are 18. As I said, the kiddies are impressionable and two things could still happen. One, they fall for the next shiny thing that comes along with a hashtag and some hype. Two, they grow up, engage their brains and Trudeau disappears from view.

        • I ♥ Justin says:

You are soooo stupid and you insult Pierre, Justin and Jesus. What can be worst than that! I’m 18 and a lot smarter than you because you are a moron obviously. Me and my friends on Twitter all agree that Justin is a winner and Canadians will love him as much as we love him. He is the REAL thing and a winner too. Look at the polls where he is the most popular too!!!!!

          • Billy Boy says:

Whateva! This is sooo sketch. I didn’t insult Jesus, I insulted Catholic immigrants from the 60’s& 70’s who haven’t figured out that PET died and the LPC is not remotely the party they remember. But when another Trudeau comes calling they’ll think nothing has changed.

Please would someone tell me if this is political theatre or if “I heart Justin” is for real? If this is the calibre of the new Justin “supporter”, provided he can find his way to a polling station, I’m not convinced he won’t spoil his ballot. The NDP can keep mobilizing the smart and engaged kiddies, you guys can have this one…

I like soooo shudder at the thought of 2015

Did you have help with that dictionary?

  3. steve says:

There is a palatable feeling of disgust with Harper blowing through BC and Ontario to the Maritimes. The PC will be the Wildrose party after the next election. Do great men create history or does history create great men. In this case a bad man may create a great man.

  4. patrick says:

Interesting that Trudeau is the “most inspiring” of the lot. I think this is an indication that people are tired of “pinstriped men” endlessly recycling the same, failed mantra of “tax cuts” being the path to heaven.
I suppose it’s a question of people preferring hope and optimism over austerity and decline.
Or, as we seem to copy the US, we want to have our “Obama” moment too.

  5. Ridiculosity says:

No big surprise there. Every single Conservative-leaning voter I have spoken to in the last two years has said the same thing: they’ve had enough of Steve & Company.

    • billg says:

Well, every single one except for the 30% hard core base of voters that continue to out donate the other partys at approx 3 to 1. Look at the cash boys and girls, and, its not coming from those big bad evil corporations. I think JT will be our Prime Minister one day if the members allow him, and, it doesnt scare me or bother me one bit, I imagine this crew in power will get tired and lost like all govts do after a certain amount of time, but, he still has a ton of work to do and time spent as opposition leader before he will be trusted by the not so hard core Con base that he will have to sway.

  6. JH says:

Lot of moaning and groaning over at the Ceeb about the Nanos Number though.

  7. I ♥ Justin says:

    soooooooo much

  8. Ted H says:

It’s the history of Canadian politics isn’t it? People generally like the Liberals, but after several terms they get a bit arrogant, so the Conservtives get elected for a while, not because they are liked, but just to punish the Liberals. Then, it doesn’t take long for buyers remorse to set in once people are reminded what a Conservative government is like, so the Liberals get back in, and the cycle starts all over again. Been that way since 1867.

  9. Patti McDougal says:

    Hey Warren,

Know you hate country music, but here’s another outlaw country democrat who is “fighting the right”:

    http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/04/11/republicans-secretly-taped-strategizing-a-smear-campaign-against-emotionally-unbalanced-ashley-judd/

I’m telling you, you’re missing out on a huge slice of the pie – embrace those banjoes and fiddles son!

  10. dave says:

    What is Trudeau leader of?

(From the choices on the poll, I could speculate that this poll was commissioned by the Trudeau leadership bunch.)

  11. Bill Temleman says:

lest we forget…while Harper is annoying lots of soft Tories and swing voters, he still has his core. “Soft Tories” is a relatively small category. 308.com’s federal averaging of poll results shows Cons: 32%, NDP: 28%, Libs 26%, Greens 7%. So JT wins the leadership. How will these numbers change? Not enough to alter the fact that Harper’s core will get him enough seats for at least a minority win in 2015. Check out the numbers. Unless we get more cooperation next election between the 3 opposition parties, Steve-o can keep his job until he gets tired of it. The days of the Liberals with a charismatic leader astride a white charger waving the flag galloping into Parliament to save the country are over. Wish it weren’t the case, but the numbers don’t lie.

  12. Derek Pearce says:

You know what to everything above? Whatevs. When Harper resigns in the next year & half, and then Justin kicks Kenney’s or Baird’s ass I will rejoice.

  13. ray says:

    Hey Warren

I know you want Justin to do the neg ads but how about this

    video

justin confortably esconced on the arm of a sofa looking over his shoulder at a big ass tv.

on the screen are closeups of the ugliest cons howling and scowling in the house of commons .. baird, del maestro et al

but there is no sound. just those ugly hate filled faces for ten or fifteen seconds.

then justin turns to the camera and says

my name is justin trudeau and I do NOT approve of these messages.

    exit stage left … softly.

    works for me 🙂
