Kooky Cavoukian et al. are full of shit

The entire premise of her previous hyperventilation and hysteria – that emails had been “deleted” – was false.

She, and the Opposition parties, got it wrong. They hadn’t been deleted, at all.

Cavoukian and the PCs and NDP owe McGuinty et al. an apology. Personally, if I were them, I’d sue for every statement that Cavoukian and her winged monkeys made on a non-privileged occasion.

Oh, and that OPP investigation that Cavoukian’s half-cocked claims kick-started? I guess that’ll be wrapping up, now.

In the meantime, the OPP should charge Cavoukian et al. with mischief.  And/or wasting taxpayer dollars.

They might have been deleted, but saved on the server. The advice Cavoukian got that these were not recoverable was very poor, however.

As to the aides, you might argue that if they knew their emails were being saved on the server, then deleting them from their inboxes was a reasonable thing to do, but IANAL.

As to the contents of the emails, I bet they will be a whole lot of nothing. The Libs may some very stupid political calculations near the end of the last election. It cost us all. But you could have predicted that the day they made ’em. So the story is old.

  2. The article suggest it was Cavoukian’s people that found them, not the government.

    • bigcitylib says:

The “government’s chief information officer” found them. I am assuming that’s gov of ont not her office. Probably be more embarrassing for her if her gang missed stuff.

      • I believe the Chief Information Officer is Cavoukian and she is an officer of Provincial Parliament, therefore technically not part of the government.

It looks like the article has been revised to make it clear that they where found by government IT staff.

Of course it is ridiculous to blame her for claiming the emails where missing. She was just going by what the government was telling her.

She had an obligation, and the staff and resources, to investigate fully before writing that bullshit report. She didn’t.

If I were Livingston and the others, I’d sue her until she was living in a cardboard box.

I am completely baffled as to how Cavoukian made such a potentially damaging statement without exhausting all her efforts to determine if in fact the emails were lost. Hell I am a neanderthal when it comes to this new technology but even I know that just pressing delete does not eradicate an email totally. As I recall there were more than a few who made this point but truth be told even our vaunted 5th estate didn’t seem to push this to its logical conclusion and now everyone is acting surprised.

Conspiracies are always a lot more interesting than mistakes. Noone will even pay attention to this development, which is lucky for Ms. Cavoukian.

Cavoukian of course, is “appalled” by this latest revelation. It would be too much to hope she was appalled by her own incompetence. It’s always someone else’s fault for a person like her.

“…the OPP should charge Cavoukian et al with….wasting taxpayers dollars.” Oh, the irony.
