Conservatives are really, really not going to like my Sun column on Sunday

I can’t give the column away just yet, but here’s the kicker.  It gives you the gist:

“Conservatives tough on crime? Don’t make us laugh.

This Fall, it is Conservatives who DO crime.”

Comments made by “Dear Leader” at a certain backyard BBQ hosted by Toronto’s illustrious Mayor:

“Many of you may remember, Rob endorsed us in the election, that helped a lot,” Harper said. “Rob is doing something very important that needs to be done here, he is cleaning up the NDP mess here in Toronto, so that’s great.”

    Eat it, “Dear Leader”…..

    Maybe could be noted…

The previous admin made their mess with public finances.

That’s a tad different from Ford making a mess out of his personal life.

    Just sayin’…

It really is remarkable what excuses Conservatives come up with to rationalize his behavior.

My question to you is: If these kind of revelations were being made about a progressive mayor would you be so sanguine about them?

      Just askin’….

      • Al in Cranbrook says:

And just exactly how was I rationalizing Ford’s behavior??????????

        Please explain.

Perhaps ottlib claimed that you are rationalizing Ford’s behavior because you seem to be claiming that Ford’s personal life may be a mess, but at least he has managed the city finances well.

A big problem with your statement is, as is mentioned below, that it is not true – Ford has not managed city finances well. Another problem is that it has long been clear, even before the most recent revelations, that these were not just a problem of his personal life. Lisi was hired by Ford to work as occasional driver, including on city business. Ford directed civic resources to his football team. And the recently revealed police documents alledge that he also used his aides to buy alcohol for him, and change his lights. Also, that he was often drunk on the job. These are not personal problems.

          Essentially what Adam said.

I have seen too many Conservatives attempt to diminish the significance of some stupid, unethical, or illegal action by someone they support by bringing up something that their opponents did that really is not relevant to the situation.

It seems to be a tactic unique to Conservatives because I rarely see it used by supporters of other parties but just to show what I mean I will demonstrate.

“The previous administration made a real mess with decisions that lead to the death of 7 people due to bad water.

That is a tad different than losing a little bit of money canceling gas plants.

          Just sayin….”
