Toronto needs a mayor: In order to sue for damage to your reputation…

…you first need to have a reputation.

Just heard the latest comments of the Mayor, where he discusses his latenight menus and wondering if the implosion is near, what more can he say to prove he is mentally deranged, even the rabid rightwing radio dogs have turned on him, Oakley is now diplomatically talking to dug the thug really reading lightly. Dug says RoboFo is not going to step down,

  2. Warren's Best Friend says:

Agreed. But in any event good faith attempts to answer police questions concerning a criminal investigation, made with an expectation of privacy and later revealed against your will by way of judicial order, are not actionable.

  3. W the K - No, not Warren says:

To the mayor’s current staff: resign now! All of you. Write your letter and leave – today.

  4. Pipes says:

Just when you think you have heard Ford say everything sayable he says “Most shockingly, Ford responded to allegations that he had told a former woman staffer that he would “eat her pussy.” He responded “I’m happily married, I have more than enough to eat at home.”

    Wowwwwwwwwwwww

When I think of Washington D.C., I think of the White House, crime and Marion Barry.

$100,000,000 of advertising will not undue what Ford has done to the reputation of Toronto. The world is laughing in disbelief at Toronto. And there is residual damage to Canada. The only perception folks may get about Canada, all year, in certain parts of the world is this story.

Good luck with getting the Olympics in the next 50 years. This blemish will be on Toronto’s (and in some people’s minds Canada’s) reputation for a generation. It really is that big.

  6. David_M says:

Should it not be the City of Toronto considering the damage to its reputation?
Is that a possible legal angle?

  7. J.W. says:

Can you imagine if Ford was a well known Liberal Party member, prominent in that role, frequently meeting and being photographed with Liberal leaders, and identified in the public as such?

What would we be hearing from the Conservative Party, Conservative Government and MP’s and Ministers?

    • Any party that had Ford in it would have taken him to the woodshed and quietly put him out of his misery a year ago (at least).

      • J.W. says:

Well there was a big photo op with Harper on subways just a couple of months ago. Not much distance. Some woodshed.

        • That is because he is NOT in Conservative caucus, and maybe, just maybe Ford Nation was stupid enough that he would survive politically. But I stand by what I said, no actual real political party would have kept him around alll this time hoping that ‘Ford Nation’ was actually dumb enough that he could survive.

  8. VC says:

Statements made to the police in an investigation are protected by absolute privilege.

  9. Greg says:

Can’t somebody swear an oath, say that the mayor’s behaviour is erratic and he represents an imminent danger to himself or others and have the men in blue come take him to the hospital for a psych evaluation?

  10. Greg from Calgary says:

Can he suceed? I mean the comments made were part of a police investigation. It’s not like they went out and slandered him publically. And I want to qualify by what I mean slander. As of now none of the claims of prostitution or cocaine have been proven though I suspect they are. Everything else Ford has denied turns out true. Anyway since they are not proven if I made these claims publically I guess it could be considered slander and Ford could sue. But, they were not, they were part of a police investigation. So, does Ford have a leg to stand on to sue? I think no, but I am not a lawyer.

Anyway, I hope he gets help. And a sense of perspective. He wants to fire someone over falling asleep on the job but being so drunk you cannot remember what you did (yeah right), buying illegial drugs, using crack cocaine and lieing to the public and he thinks he should keep his job? Which is worst?

  11. MgS says:

Hahaha! I’d love to be in the courtroom when RoFo is cross-examined. Any defence lawyer should be able to shred what little credibility he has in about 30 seconds and one question.

  12. Phil says:

And exactly who is the female “friend” / “alleged escort”?

I sure there’s going to be a full report tomorrow, and it won’t be pretty.

  13. W the K - No, not Warren says:

The Fords get a Sun News show! Thoughts?

  14. Wow! So now we know when something may actually be UNTRUE about Ford. Apparently he does have some shame. It would be a huge lauh though if he did actually sue any one of them. Can you imagine the defense cross examination? Every provable allegation about him will be brought up in court to support the statements of the defendants. For a civil suit, on balance of probability. Fords word vs. a staffers. Ford being so readily proven to be a liar.

today’s wearing of the football jersey to city council might be a tip-off to hizzoners mindset. He believes he’s William “the refrigerator” Perry about to score the big touchdown for “da bears”
with pathetic threats of legal action and bullying. the least we could do is take away the keys from this bloviating pulsating pile of fucktitude before he kills someone.

  16. Ian Howard says:

“…this is a hard world to be ludicrous in, with so many human beings so reluctant to laugh, so incapable of thought, so eager to believe and snarl and hate.”
    ― Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night

  17. Curtis in Calgary says:

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge’.
