Toronto needs a mayor: I must be missing something

Like, how in the name of God is this in any way news? It would be news if Wynne, Hudak et al. were agreeing to meet with Mayor Crackhead, wouldn’t it? Not the reverse. Weird.

Linkbait…pure and simple. At least Gawker admits — even celebrates — they are data whores and continually re-write and tweak stories and headlines to drive traffic. I catch the Globe and Mail updating stories on curious ways all the time, as well.

  2. Arnold Murphy says:

Just in, I also refuse to meet with Rob Ford unless its for rehabilitative purposes and I am allowed to use shock therapy.

Well then, here’s some news fot you:

Andrea Horwath stated today Wynne should be meeting with Ford.

No link. It was an audio clip during a news update on 680 News this afternoon I heard in the car.

Warren, very much to my annoyance, the quote from Horwath – who’s apparently not the brightest bulb in the box – is included in the Globe & Mail story covering Mayor Assclown whining about the mean ol’ Premiere refusing to meet with him. Infuriatingly enough.

I really, really wish spokespeople for the left wouldn’t continually shoot themselves in the foot like this. Even if this is meant as a swipe at Wynne (of whom I’m not even particularly fond), it’s sheer foolishness for any intelligent political actor to treat Ford as legitimate by this stage of the game. Does Horwath have an ounce of common sense? Sucking up to Rob Ford is not going to benefit Horwath in any way, and it’s certainly not going to make his rabid fanbase hate her any less. All it’s going to manage is make the people in Horwath’s voting base pissed off at the silly cow for playing political parlor games.

Pulling this right out of my ass:

Taking the circus sideshow stuff out of the picture (hard, I know) she might be thinking Ford was duly elected Mayor of Toronto, and Wynne essentially appointed Premier by 1050 Liberal delegates has no mandate from the voters as she has not led the Liberals in a general election.

Maybe she thinks saying the Premier should meet with him will have at least some Ford supporters thinking “Hey this Andrea Horwath realises my vote for Ford meant something. She respects democracy. She’s someone I can get behind”

The premier would probably rather deal with an adult.

Hudak also made comments yesterday, although in context of having a meeting with all affected mayors.

    Printed in today’s Toronto Sun:

“I think we all have to start acting like adults here on a very serious situation. The province has to take the bull by the horns – meet with the mayors, including the mayor of Toronto – and figure out how we’re going to solve this problem.

Let’s end these silly games and personality based decisions, sit down with the mayors that are impacted and hash something out on behalf of the taxpayers”
