—Pussy Riot attacked by fascist Russian police using whips
This happened this morning in Sochi. This – along with shit like this, carried out by the morons at the IOC – is why I wrote, and still feel, it was wrong for us to participate in Putin’s Hate Olympics. We will end up regretting doing so.
Meanwhile in Canada….
Our federal gov’t is auditing environmental groups who don’t agree with them..
Our federal gov’t is spying on us at airports.
Our federal gov’t is wasting hundreds of millions of dollars of our money for action plan propaganda tv ads.
The party in power is planning to disrupt the convention of another political party.
even more obsequious was Steve Podbordski admonishing the athletes and none to subtly to abstain from displays that might embarrass the COC and Aubut fawning over Putin was vomit inducing. Something else that crossed my mind. If you are in the habit of watching the BBC’s Top Gear then don’t miss the third week’s episode. It was eerie as hell as our three intrepid presenters drive past Chernobyl 28 years after the fact. Chernobyl is only 70 miles from Kiev where all hell is breaking loose as I write this. There were plans to build a cement arc over the site but not enough money. Fifty billion for Sochi no problem but fixing radiation that will remain for 10.000 years not so much. Watching Jeremy, Hammond and May drive by the rotting ferris wheel and abandoned worker’s apartments chilled me to the bone.
also in that show are abandoned intercontinental ballistic missiles and empty silo’s just rotting out in the open. equally chilling.
Pussy Riot are twisting conservatives into knots, worldwide. Check out the comment boards at other news sites and look at the venom spewed by folks who actually think this band gets what they deserve. Retrograde, fascist ideas have fans all over the place.
I am of the opinion there are folks in the Conservative Party who actually care less about Canada, per se, than they do about working with their ideological brethren wherever they may be. Witness Harper’s infatuation with the Likud Party, or Tony Abbot’s wrecking crew in Oz, or Republicans in the States…they’re the same everywhere.
This is a global war, now.
Oh, yes, and see what happens to you in this country now if you show up at a rally wearing a mask.
I wonder who took the photo and was allowed to get it out to the west. Sure is a good photo…almost professional looking!
It was taken by an AP photojournalist. What are you trying to imply ? Be clear.
dave would be right at home in mother Russia, it seems.
Mulleteur, I am implying that we should be cautious about the ways we react to what our media passes on to us.
smelter rat, I am at home here in Canada. As for Russian and the Russian people, they must, at times, feel surrounded by hostility. I figure that in Russia a lot of people are well aware of their past history, the many attacks by the West, the nukes surrounding them for decades(and helping prop up a communist regime longer than it had to be there), what happened when they dismantled the Warsaw Pact and let go their buffer states only to see NATO draw ever closer,…and for people like Pussy Riot, it must be frustrating to see us in the West constantly pushing and provoking and giving the stalinists the rationale to crack down on dissent.
Would I be at home in the land of Ahkmatova, Katchaturian, Chekhov, Vosnosensky, Pussy Riot?…too old to find out now.
Whatever. If you had checked before throwing out your red herring you would have known that it was a legit photo.
Who gives a whip to an organ grinder’s monkey, anyway?
Ikea?
