The Blackberry killer

Mistah Blackberry? He dead.

The Blackberry killer finally arrived in the mail yesterday.  I have used it, and I can tell you this: what little is left of Blackberry will not survive the Typo.  The thing that kept the Blackberry alive was the iconic keyboard.  Typo now lets you use that keyboard on an iPhone.

When you try it out, you’ll understand why Blackberry was frantically seeking an injunction against its sale.

RIP, RIM.

The Blackberry Killer.

    Lol.
Obviously this writer has never used a BlackBerry but I love the sensationalism?

I use the BlackBerry Z30, no keyboard.
I use the non-keyboard BlackBerry because it is the best phone on the market today! Unfortunately most people don’t realize this yet because of poor BlackBerry marketing. Hopefully with the new management, this will change soon?

If you have been following this blog for a while you’d know that Warren hung on to his Blackberry long after it was fashionable to do so.. I imagine the “from my cold dead hands” phrase was thrown around at one point.

      Welcome to warrenkinsella.com, WalterB!

WalterB, the new management is like when they shift your cardiologist tells you he’s bringing in a coroner to look after your health care needs going forward.

See also 8-track tape, Betamax, HD-DVD. I’m not going to argue with you about the merits of your Z30 over other phones. But there is no recovery in BB’s future. There isn’t room for four major platforms – it’s doubtful that Microsoft can survive but there’s no doubt at all that Blackberry can’t.

Only reason I bought BB Q10 was for physical keyboard, that’s the only advantage BB has or had it appears…

Will likely copy Warren’s combination when my contract is up, hopefully Typo is still around.

This thing is ridiculous? What about touch ID on the iphone 5s? Now useless! Learn to use the touch keyboard

  4. Cameron Prymak says:

Perhaps… but Blackberry grew out of the desire to go beyond phones and pagers and as RIM helped shuffle those devices to the sidelines of the market. Is it any wonder that Blackberry itself could be on the receiving end of creative destruction?

Thank you Warren, for helping me let go.

Some people short Blackberry, but only a very few know for sure who they are.

Blackberry WHO… WHAT…. come on folks if you are not used to the iphone keyboard there is something wrong with you. Your age is showing .. if you still need the QUWRETy thing!!!!!!!!
    Yikes

Once you go iPhone… you don’t go back …. to anything not even Android!!!!!!

Just a couple of queries –
1.) I’m guessing you’ve not used the Swype/Android ‘gesture typing’ … but if you have, how do these compare? Never used BB myself but my brother used to swear by them. Using the touch keyboard on my iPad occasionally borks me up as I’ve really become comfortable with the Swype type instead.
2.) [totes offtopic, but] You have an app now?
