If John Tory will lie about his past, won’t he also lie about Toronto’s future? (updated)

I don’t know who did the above video. But if you want to dig into Tory’s fibbing deeper, here’s a devastating take-down of his launch speech, and the whoppers he told therein. Feel free to share widely.

I find it surprising that he’d make a planned speech with those easily debunked lies. He probably thinks that since Slob Ford continually gets away with his endless BS statements then he can too. I guess he’s relying on Tory Nation to blindly believe everything he says and vote for him in October.. all 2.5 dozen of them.

Don’t mind having a rich mayor, less chance of being bought off.

    • Redgerrymander says:

Except when the rich mayor is part of a cabal that make their money selling off public assets to fellow rich people (hello Tory, Tory & Tory!).

Or, when a rich mayor helps out his ‘good friends’ and fellow 1%ers on Boards of major corporations that he still ‘works’ for.

Are you that naive to think that rich people don’t want more and more money, or are you making yours posting these shallow comments?

      You can’t seriously believe that.

  3. Chris says:

Typo in the first Fact check (FACT 1 should be “two younger brothers”)

  4. Mary says:

Uhh…in reference to the first fact check, when someone (great grandfather) is “the youngest of three brothers”, don’t they have “two older brothers”? How is one statement untrue?

  5. Campbell says:

That document should be edited and re-posted. If you read it without having watched the video (as I did) it comes across as contradictory and confusing.

“FACT 1: John said his great grandfather had two older brothers.”

Two things wrong with this. First, it’s incorrect – John said his great grandfather had two younger brothers. Second, although it’s a fact that John said it, it’s apparently not a fact. It’s confusing to the reader to have it characterized as one.

    Should say:

WHAT JOHN SAID: His great grandfather had two younger brothers.
    FALSE!
FACT CHECK: John’s great grandfather was the youngest of three brothers. Cite sources, etc.

It’s a great message and an excellent catch on your team’s part, so don’t risk letting it get confused! That John Tory would blatantly lie about his own family history speaks volumes about his character in my opinion.

Here’s a link to a segment of the keynote speech to of the 1988 Democratic National Convention.

    Just substitute “John” for “George”.

The entire speech is the best ever!
