Provincial election: there’s one happening, unless there isn’t

An Ontario provincial election is happening!

An Ontario provincial election isn’t happening!

LOL, as they say.  Journalism is fun.

I don’t think anyone, even the party leaders, know any more then we political junkies know about when the next election will be.

Fund raising departments use any justification to encourage people to donate, even if it may not be true, even if they know it is not true.

But they would know if their party is ready.

Wynne pulling away from some of her “revenue tools” like a gas tax and HST increase, seems to suggest the Liberals aren’t ready.

They may know, but ready or not ready, they would still be asking for donations.

The Liberals stopping talking about tax increases is the strongest sign they are getting ready to go.

Or that they are beginning to lay the foundation to buy NDP support for the budget.

Gas tax and HST increases were very unpopular with Horwath.

    Michael says:

The Ontario Conservatives have been on the move since Sept 2011. They started nominating candidates in the fall of 2011 and are the only party with virtually all of their candidates nominated. They have been itching for an election for 2 1/2 years. In their minds that last election was rightfully theirs, they were entitled to power after 10 years of Liberals government, and somehow it was stolen from them.

So don’t look to the Conservatives if you want to gauge the chances of an election. And don’t look at the party leaders either. Look at the state of election preparedness of the NDP. Do they have candidates and money? If the answer is yes, then we are going to the polls. If the answer is no, then Andrea will sit on her hands and let the budget pass.

I think there is only one riding without a PC candidate, and that’s the one Doug Ford wanted to run in in Etobicoke.

He has since said he won’t seek the nomination, I assume because he thought a spring election was coming and he’s running Rob’s re-election campaign.

I would love a spring election for many reasons, but maybe the best is that we could forget about the municipal elections until summer.

Can’t have a provincial election until the civic elections are over. They do want to get rid of the Fords, so first deal with that, then switch over and start on the provincial campaign. After that……..
One election needs to be over and done with or else the staff and volunteers, not to mention the money will be spread too thin. Many who work for Chow would also work in a provincial election for other parties. The Fords, their crew only work for themselves.

With a win for Chow, the progressives can have their provincial election. After that, they may have a smooth machine which maybe able to get rid of the Cons and Harper.
