Excellent News! Hope PQ finally go away and the alternative to the QLP is another federalist party, don’t care what end of spectrum.

Let’s all hope pollsters finally have it right this time. How novel would that be.

  3. Kre8tv says:

Polling data days before provincial elections doesn’t exactly have a great track record of late in Canada. I’d love for this to be the one that breaks that curse. But I’m not holding my breath. Not quite yet.

Most experts say it is a result of the ballot qestion becoming ‘wither referendum?’. I think in the end it might be something even more basic: Couillard is a likeable, charismatic, positive and intelligent reflection of Quebec et Quebecois. The other two are looking like bilious, uncharming and rather deceitful pieces of work. Might be as simple as that.

Polls should be taken with a pound of salt given recent history, but I think the Conservatives need some props here.

When this campaign started, Marois was looking for a fight with Harper on the topic of Quebec sovereignty. Harper ignored her. The only public comment I saw was to the affect of It’s up to the people of Quebec to decide which party they want in power. Other than that, the Conservatives, and even Mulcair and Trudeau and their parties have remained very quite on the Quebec election.

The non reaction from Ottawa took a good deal of wind out of the PQ sails.

Matt, I don’t think anyone has done more to deflate separatism than has PM Harper. He keeps his nose out of Quebec politics, a complete 180 from previous federal governments. In large part because he adheres to the constitutional division of power between Ottawa and the provinces. He’s rid this country of the incipient and divisive paternalism, Ottawa knows best garbage, that has been a fact of life for so many decades.

    • Michael says:

Separatism began deflating long before your hero came around, for a whole lot of reasons including the Clarity Act (a.k.a. The Chretien/Dion strategy). How, pray tell, could Harper have deflated separatism when he is the most disliked federal politician in Quebec in recent history?

Oh look, Al, there’s Steve walking on water!

    • james Smith says:

I shall give the present PM this; he, like most Quebec Nationalists, do not think the federal government has any role to play other than playing Army Man. Coincidentally, he came to power much like the PLQ may come to power on Monday, after the party in power imploded.

I don’t believe in polls anymore, not since the last B.C. provincial election. Oh, the one in Alberta didn’t make me any more of a believer either.

Which ever person and their party is elected we can only hope the “values” thing is flushed down the toilet. They want to separate, let Quebecers vote on it. If the majority wins then…….
