My view at the moment

Wish you were all here.

Well, most of you, anyway.

    Very good for the soul.

    Much envy happening here.

Wonderful photo. Reminds me of my youth in Ontario. Nowadays its upper Fraser Valley, BC (Wonderland), subtropical weather, and the fundamentalist crazies everywhere. Just been revealed that only 10% of the Mt. Cheam fundie school students are immunized against measles. What a bunch of strangeiosoes they are. Give me Muskoka every time (in the few climant months of course). You can keep the blackflies…

    • Coelocanth_Jones says:

I’ve always loved Muskoka, and Ontario shield country in general, but relative freedom from measles was a benefit I’d wholly taken for granted until now

You can always go back if you dislike the people around here so much. I also live in the upper Fraser Valley, only I don’t see the fantasy land of Christian crazies you describe. This area isn’t even close to your description and you know it, but I guess it makes you feel oh so superior to spin such garbage, eh? I happen to know of several socialist communities around here (Yarrow “Eco” Village chief among them) that prevent far greater numbers of their children from getting vaccinated than the folks at Cheam. Kinda blows your narrow-minded, bigoted stereotype out of the water.

They’re all good, but the first one of the year is always best. I bet after the miserable winter we just had that view is most gratifying. 🙂

  4. Lance says:

By the way, I have heard on CBC Radio that here in Ontario they want to increase WIFI coverage in Provincial Parks. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m not sure that is such a great idea. Seems sort of sacrilegious somehow.

  5. Kre8tv says:

If that’s the lake I’m thinking of, it’s the best in the province. One of the finest in the world, even. Some of the properties around there are pretty storied, too. Damn, I’m jealous.

Meanwhile back in civilization all the Dipper voters will be flocking to the Wynne Liberals to STOP HUDAK.

Wynne must be laughing all the way to a MAJORITY Liberal government now. Stay where you are because the election is now a foregone conclusion.

(Wonder if Liberal voters will flock to the NDP federally how?)

This is the saddest and most hackish post I’ve ever read on this site, and that’s REALLY saying something. The toxic 36 can kindly fuck off, I haven’t heard any of my dipper friends and colleagues suggesting that they’ve internalized their crock, we don’t need to hold their hands on the way to the polling station.

For what it’s worth, I wonder what Kathleen and Jane would think if they knew that RonaldO, the traditionalist Catholic standard bearer, is one of Kathleen’s biggest fans

I hope you get the Ceeb up there Warren. The Fifth Estate has a terrific tale about a fella named Ford on the TV tonight.

    • Coelocanth_Jones says:

I obviously can’t speak for everybody here, but if I had the luxury of retreating to a cottage, not hearing nonsense about Ford would be one of many benefits. Of course, he did show up in Bracebridge, of all places, something worth considering for the day I can hunt for near north real estate

      • TrueNorthist says:

S’truth! Mind you, after only a couple days at the cottage I often find myself pining for the F(j)ords. 😉 Political junkie much?

    Borders on “profound”.

    I might add…

“What new social (usually meaning, “legacy”, and massively expensive) programs will you initiate?” “None. Instead we will try to pay for those bequeathed to the nation by my many predecessors. And clean up, if not eliminate outright, the ungodly wasteful, expensive, but nevertheless generally inert, bureaucratic quagmires created thereby. I have no intention whatsoever of inflicting yet another personal “legacy” upon the nation’s taxpayers.”

  9. Philippe says:

Don’t know about you Warren but when I am in a setting like that, all the political stuff becomes trivial and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Sweet pic.
