My mother always told me never to speak ill of the dead, but in this case I will make a special exemption. Good riddance to yet another unrepentant bigot.

  2. Nostradamus says:

Surprise me Warren – keep the above post up for further discussion .

James Keegstra was an unrepentant antisemite. He also held a mirror to the consciousness of Canadians. He did us a favour by exposing a pretty ugly underbelly of Canada while concomitantly helping to solidify the fence of protection for vulnerable minorities, Canada’s anti-hate laws. It was the Keegstra case that ended up before the Supreme Court of Canada and in the end the decision to validate our anti-hate laws as constitutional.

Nonetheless we paid a price; our innocence. In the end Keegstra was fined a meagre $3,000 for poisoning children’s minds with hatred.

For those who don’t recall please read Robert Mason Lee’s exceptional May 1985 look into the heart of hatred , “Keegstra’s Children” http://tinyurl.com/o6c8ge2

      but nothing has changed.
last night I was sitting in the oldest pub in Kingston. Open Mic night. Three guys sit down at a table beside me as I wait to play a couple of tunes and my songs are off the chart political.
One of them maybe sixty and wearing a do-rag asks where I’m from. I say, Toronto originally. He says, I been there once. I’m on ODSP and I was having my teeth fixed at George Brown College. ODSP sent me to a B&B but I left because it was run by a queer and the place was full of faggots. Now how the hell this pathetic homophobe assumed everyone within shouting distance would agree with him is beyond me. So I said “you know 10% of the population is gay. There are eighty people in this bar right now so I’m guessing there are eight faggots here right now and Ontario just elected a queer as premier. I got the strangest look but worse came the usual apologia from his buddies. “they won’t hurt you” bet the place was clean” “they ain’t so bad” etc etc I wish I was wearing one of Warren’s inspirations for a T-shirt. YOU’RE AN IDIOT. GO FUCK YOURSELF.
I really wanted to windmill the prick Pete Townshed style with my strat and cleave the motherfucker but that wouldn’t change a thing. Until most of these assholes are as dead as Keegstra they will continue to believe they are in the majority. These are the people who vote for the Rob Fords of the world. Patience people but what I learned once again you don’t have to travel far to realize that hatred of the other is rampant with no shortage of politicians and media feeding their paranoia. But the music was great.

Thank you for taking the positive route about a very negative person in the time of his death. What he said and did was ugly beyond belief, but it also led to some very positive improvements in our society, albeit ones that are still not entirely embraced by all but still make it far harder to do what he did the way he did it. Like many here I am old enough to remember this case when it was happening, and where it led to, and what it showed within Canadian society despite our vaunted belief in our openness and tolerance. While I will not speak to his passing itself or where his soul belongs, assuming such exists of course, the absence of his voice from our society is not going to be missed by many at all. This was a man that saw no problem in indoctrination of hatred into young minds, instead of teaching them the importance of open minded thinking for oneself and judging for oneself, which should be what any true teacher wants to see happen within their student IMHO.

There is nothing so negative that a positive cannot be found within it somewhere, nor is there anything so positive that a negative cannot be found within it somewhere, this I believe is one of the very few truths of the world we live in.

Wonderful! So let’s all thank hitler’s protégé for poisoning the minds of the innocents and then letting the world know that racism still exists.
      What a sophomoric thought Bernie!

As the grandson of a Russian Jew who emigrated to the U.S. and never heard from her family again after the Nazis invaded Russia, I can only say good riddance. The scum of th earth.

When are old men Fromm and Andrews going to take their dirt naps?

Truly an appalling person. Canada and the world are better off without him.

Finally, something everyone here at WarrenKinsella.com (otherwise known as a warm little corner of Hell) can agree on! Now where did I leave my pitchfork?

  8. Steve Mertl says:

I spent 16 weeks covering his first trial and wrote a book about it. A charming man in a position of trust who did tremendous damage.

This reference manages to get the garble the title. The experience had a deep impact on me.

Finally a post from my friend Warren that I can agree with again! (Actually you forgot to tell Satan to turn up the heat.) I knew something was up when I woke up this morning feeling like the world was just somehow a better place. And here I was thinking that it was just the re-election of Ontario’s Liberal Government!

Ol’ Jim K was one of those rare Canadians worthy of a Fuck Youlogy.

  11. socks clinton says:

He’s been dead a while but from the timing of the announcement I thought he dropped dead after hearing that a lesbian premier won the Ontario election.

  12. socks clinton says:

He’s been dead a while but when I first heard the news he I though he dropped dead after hearing that a Liberal lesbian premier won the Ontario election.

  13. patrick says:

Well it be nice if he was getting pitchforked for eternity but that fantasy aside the world is a better place because a dull, ignorant, egotist is dead and buried.

  14. Joe says:

I honestly detest everything that Keegstra had to say regarding his Jewish conspiracy nonsense but I don’t view the man as being evil. To my way of thinking his twisted ideas were similar to a virus that in a weak body is deadly but in a healthy body actually strengthens the immune system. I suspect that the students who listened to his claptrap developed a stronger BS meter that will likely stand them in good stead when someone is trying to bamboozle them with made up tales of impending disaster and the like. The problem with silencing Jim Keegstra is determining were exactly do we stop when it comes to being thought police? If I disagree with PM Harper should I be silenced? What about Trudeau? Are his thoughts so elevated no one dare question them? Should I be prevented from questioning the Church or the Synagog or the Mosque? Dare I question Academe? Should Suzuki shut me down if I point out an error in his favourite theory?

  15. Iris Mclean says:

Didn’t Stockwell Day and Jim Keegstra hang out together in Bentley Alberta?

  16. e.a.f. says:

sometimes when people like him die it is best not to mention them at all. dust unto dust and that was all he was dust. why waste your space on him? He was/is only one of many who have this opinion. Hating him really wasn’t worth the energy.

  17. Harold Hecuba says:

    Where’s this guy’s grave? I need to take a sh*t.
