Dear John

Things are good. The boy is back (and apologized). Talked to someone, was good. Painting again. New songs. Business is rockin’. And the new book is flying out of me – almost 4,000 words in a week.

Ahh, it feels good to feel good! Glad to read your encouraging news. Good of you to update, WK.

  3. David says:

That IS good news best to both of you.

  4. Pipes says:

    Ya man.
    The sun always come up.
You are one of the good guys-don’t doubt yourself.
Parents are the anvil upon which their kids pound out their identity.
You are one of the good guys-don’t doubt yourself. ( I thought that to be sufficiently important to deserve a repeat).

  5. Don McGowan says:

Thank you Warren for sharing this very good news. Take good care of yourself. There are a great many of us that wish you well.

  6. Kaiser Helmets 'n Motorbikes says:

    Very good news, Warren:

    My favorite Twain:

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much he had learned in 7 years.

Pretty familiar with that black dog myself. There are days when every thought is behind a bank of grey apathetic fuckitall fog. There were (and sometimes are) times when I make it all worse by letting that pull my thoughts around, twisting everything with a negative slant.

It’s still uphill a lot of the time, having supportive people that understand and I can talk to, is probably THE most important thing, but one thing that I learned that helps me immeasurably is being able to realize that this is how I’m feeling right now, and that I’m able to stop myself from making it worse with all the negative thoughts. Emotions are tough, but thoughts, they can be controlled.

Glad to hear today is awesome.

Here are some lyrics i wrote an hour ago. no melody yet. add a chorus and they’re yours. got hundreds more.

i’m just a guy named bob
    i used to be robert
    til i lost my job
i’m a candle in the wind
    just like elton said
    in debt to my eyeballs
    to a banker named fred
the money they once used to pay
they gave to the banks they said they had to save
but who stole the money in the first place
    the rich got fat
from the the sweat off my back
and now i’m livin neath an underpass
no drive thru line livin down here
where they scream get a job from their green limosines
    when i get enough money
    i’m gonna buy some shoes
then walk uptown and put the screws
to all the bastards that stole the dough
their cops and their army will be first to go
then we’ll take what’s rightfully ours
give the indian man back his land
and he’ll teach us how to understand
    share and share alike
and give the back of our hand to the man
then let the air get clean
    and the rivers run wild
    take down the dams
    and walk for awhile
    till the air gets clean
teach the kids to ride and rope
learn how to travel on the servant horse
bring back the blacksmith and hope of course
no need for a smartphone or google earth
i’ll ride on what i see and live in peace

  9. Jeff says:
