Battleground: “At the end of the day, Rob Ford is also a human being”

…and some discussion of Brian Gallant’s “re-do” mess.

Will John Tory continue to make jokes, now, about the Ford being “joined at the hip”? I wouldn’t be surprised.

“My heart bleeds for them when someone gets killed. But it’s their own fault at the end of the day.” – Rob Ford on cyclists

sure I don’t wish ill tidings on anybody, but you’re seriously deluded if you don’t think that Doug won’t exploit this to the hilt in order to ride the sympathy vote to the mayors office. cancer or not, this election is about his terrible record as a mayor and of his family’s brand of political poison.

Things are getting nasty. The New Brunswick NDP is not beyond reproach as you can deduct from this news release issued today by the provincial Liberals:

Liberals demand NDP apologize for offensive video
    September 18, 2014
FREDERICTON – The Liberal Party says that a video shared today by the NDP is highly offensive and inappropriate. Tony Sekulich, former communications director and NDP candidate for Portland-Simonds, posted a video online that compares Liberals Brian Gallant, Victor Boudreau, Roger Melanson, and Dominic LeBlanc to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.
“I find this extremely offensive and disappointing, as would thousands and thousands of other New Brunswickers,” said Liberal Campaign Co-Chair Dominic LeBlanc. “Brian Gallant’s grandfather was imprisoned in a concentration camp for helping Jewish families, children and allies flee Nazi persecution during the Holocaust. I can’t believe that anyone would stoop this low to score political points.”
The video in question was posted by Sekulich on his Twitter account on Thursday morning. It was also shared by other NDP officials, including former candidate and Interim Leader Jesse Travis, as well as current candidate Angela Griffin.
“Dominic Cardy needs to take responsibility for this,” added LeBlanc. “He also needs to apologize for promoting this highly offensive material. Election campaigns should be about discussing issues that affect citizens, not disgusting stunts like this.”

      Off topic much?

Not really Mr. Rat. If you had paid attention to Warren’s written intro above and had watched the full video, you’d have noted that there was pretty well equal billing between the Ford/Tory situation and the New Brunswick election which, in case you are not aware, is taking place this coming Monday. Ergo my update on the NDP shenanigans that are taking place in my neck of the woods. Sorry but we can’t all be Toronto-centric.
