Beaches-East York

You know, if Tom wasn’t running, I think I would.

    Why not run anyway?

Acton said, “power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men/women are almost always bad men.” The second sentence is my favourite and I think you know to whom I am referring.

Well, I have no idea who Tom is, but I say go for it.

Mary Margaret McMahon has been a disaster, and that old fossil lefty spendaholic Sandra Bussin just picked herslf up off the scrap heap and registered to run.

A, what do you jokingly refer to yourself as in the Sun – a subversive Liberal commie – would be a major improvement over those two. πŸ˜‰

All three candidates come across as good capable people. They’ve all reached out either by phone or online. What the hell, jump in and join the candidates debate on the 30th.

I have stated a few times when you have put up these trial balloons that you or your partner should be running.

    Deadline is 14:00 this Friday.

Campaigns have been pathetic thus far and nothing is a lost cause or sure thing with over 45 days to go.

Get real folks. WK is too old to be courted by the Trudeau posse.

I suggest he or his other half run for municipal politics. I am sure there would be more than a handful of folks willing to spend time helping him/her get elected.

    “Tom” is Tom McGee.

He’s a great guy and he’s also one of the candidates running for the federal Liberal nomination in Beaches-East York. The other two candidates in the riding who have been green lit by the party are Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and Jeff Rybak.

Three other potential candidates have filed and/or intend to file nomination papers for the party’s authorization. That means that there ultimately may be as many as six candidates in the running, making it one of the more interesting – and highly contested – Liberal nomination contests in the city.

The riding association is hosting a Candidates Debate & Mixer on September 30th at the Royal Canadian Legion, 9 Dawes Road. Doors open at 7:00. Details at https://www.facebook.com/BeachesEastYorkFederalLiberalAssociation

As a regular reader who thinks you could be OK as an MP, sadly it’s a bitbit of a shit or get off the pot scenario with you and this estimable east side seat now. You’ve been crypitcally alluding to this for over 5 years. If you want in, be all in. If not, l shut up about it and stick to what you do. (You know that’s what you’d advise anyone else who prevaricated this much) BTW: no diss intended… I say: do it. The New Dem incumbent is a scumbag who abuses his staff and fails his constituents daily by getting out of bed.

  10. Run.

The Beaches is a great location for a Strummerfest-type event.

The Beaches East York debate was great. Well over 200 people in attendance in the main room (not sure how many in the overflow room) and all the candidates did well. However, the standout candidate was clearly Jeff Rybak. I thought Tom McGee and then Nathaneil Erskine-Smith after that. Nathaniel was a better speaker than Tom, but Tom came across as more experienced.

Jeff Rybak clearly won though …. throughout he was the guy speaking on his feet, showing charisma, leadership and character. He seemed to have the most supporters there, from a variety of communities, and he ended the night with this dynamite bit of speaking from about the 40 sec mark forward that won over the whole room.
