Best sign, ever

It also neatly summarizes my perspective on all of existence.

That is simply wonderful, but it’s not the best church notice ever. That was:

    “Morning Sermon–Jesus Walks on Water”

    “Evening Sermon–Searching for Jesus”

  2. Bruce A says:

    “It’s morning in America”.

Hilarious! Thanks, eh, I almost spilled my coffee laughing. 🙂

saw this post and scribbled this spontaneous eruption

    it’s a losing battle
    the shakedowns and rattles
    of the rich and famous
    as they belch and prattle
    i wish i were a saddle
that could ride them till they gaggled
and died once and for all
and let the least of us
    watch the mighty fall
    and empty the space
    they occupy
    bought and paid for
    by torture and lies
sometimes caught but they never pay
    and we go along
    hoping some day
    through promise or by default
    we will get to assault
    our brothers and sisters
    whose blood runs cold
at the thought of another fool
    hoarding in his vault

Until recently I lived in an oil patch city in BC where the domestic abuse rates held high and steady for the over 4 decades we lived there. We lived close to a very large complex, a shelter for abused women and children. I often thought that it was a good thing we had that facility, but a shame that we needed it.

Well, yes, that would be the religious view of things, defining the world by the worst, minority portion of the world. It keeps the coffers full I guess.

I go to First Unitarian Church of Toronto (Avenue Rd. and St. Clair). It is made up of the a great variety of agnostics, atheists, pagans, Buddhists, jews, christians, gay, transgendered, the chaste and the incontinent. Most of us, if not all, have a sorrow, public or otherwise. We congregate to share silence, music, and uplifting surroundings. Out of shared sufferings, joy! That said, I enjoyed the joke.

I have never been able to make that leap of faith, and attend no place of worship. But if I were ever to look for a congregation to be a part of, I would look for one that you describe in your first sentence.
