Colter Wall: check this guy out

ColterWall

Unbeknownst to many of you, I am a closeted fan of alt-country and related sounds. When in the woods, for instance, all I play is reggae, dub – or, I confess, acts like Son Volt, Gram Parsons, Rank and File, Dils, Long Ryders, Old 97s, and so on.

As such, Canada’s own Colter Wall was brought to my attention some time ago, and he’s terrific. His newest offering is just out, and it’s well worth picking up. Linkage here. Go. I haven’t steered you guys wrong yet.

Wow. Had not heard of him. Great stuff. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I sensed a bit of a Johnny Cash influence on some of the tracks. Thanks for the revelation.

This reminds me… you haven’t posted your Top 10 records of 2014 yet… and it is June already…

Holy Crap, Warren. Interesting revelation that you are a fan of alt Americana, Son Volt, Gram, et al. Add to this your erudite musings on the very deep troubles (visible or not,) that we are suffering here in Lib-land. And your sharing of this particular gem, which I’ve now played twice through.

I am becoming thankful that the idiots in the brain trust dissuaded (or prevented,) you from running. This is great stuff and a service to all of us out here. This is a better public service than endless meetings and whipped votes, in my humble opinion.

“Nothin” has an interesting inspiration behind it as Townes explains:

Damn… shades of Delta blues, infused with hints of Isaak, Axton and Cash

Awesome find man, thanks for sharing.
