Here’s a lede I’ve never written before

Leaving Jamaica shortly, but my prediction about this particular column: (a) some people will say I’m a fascist (b) some people will say I’m a leftist extremist (c) National Newawatch won’t link to it, thereby persuading me to fund a new news aggregator, stay tuned, etc.

You’re pissing off everyone. So, you must be doing something right!

Agree with your two reasons, but would also add a third; climate change. When it really starts to bite its going to be awful.

It’s amazing how a few thousand people working together can create illusions that span the world.

Still I look forward to reading your theory. I think there is some insight to be had. There has been a lot of wars, but Syria has been the first major war among people where a lot of people owned a smartphone. I suspect that allowed them to migrate to Europe on mass.

I’m a lot more worried about how Turkish president can lose an election, bomb Kurds for not voting for him and use that to win an election.

In my personal opinion too many people are calling evil good and good evil. If you choose evil over good don’t be surprised at the results.

Poverty and technology. Wasn’t one supposed to offset the other? 🙁

    1. Almost universal self-centredness.

    2. Almost universal mantra: The ends justify the means.

    3. The tremendous money to be made by increasing and never ending fear and armed conflict.

  6. MonteCristo says:

    Poverty and technology

Unfortunately your assertion is correct and it will be our undoing.

Technology: That’s most of what the Syrian refugees (in Europe) used to get there: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/for-syrian-refugees-smartphones-are-a-lifeline-not-a-toy-1.3221349

Poverty: Summer’s over, its starting to get cold in Europe and the Middle East and there’s nothing worse than a cold hungry crowd of poor, they have nothing to lose.

  7. Every civilization in history reaches its apex and then crumbles beneath the weight of its internal rot. Draw your own conclusions from that.
