Romney on Trump: it’s true

…but it’s also pretty bad when the best your party can do is haul out of a crypt, as your voice of accepted wisdom, the clueless vulture capitalist who was eviscerated by that black crypto-Muslim guy who was secretly born in Africa to Satanists.

President Clinton, here we come.

The only thing Romney will be remembered for
is that when he was driving his family out of
town he had the dog in a cage on top of the
    car.

The Republican Party will go the WA of the Whigs, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of dickheads.

As for Hilary “It’s my turn” Clinton, she represents everything wrong with liberalism in the USA. They’re phonies, beholden to big money…no… LOVERS of big money. Bill is the one who sent millions of poor single moms careening into destitution, destroyed Glass Stegall and set the stage for the depression we still haven’t fully escaped. The problem with the USA is oligarchs. The thing that terrifies them is someone with an axe to grind uniting the half of Americans of all races and religions who live on household incomes of under $40k a year, while a few thousand families can light their cigars with thousand dollar bills.

Strangly — tragically — Trump is tapping into that, yet he’s the phoniest of them all.

sure Trump is the turd in the punch bowl but I predict the Trumpet will be triumphant not for winning anything but for just maybe being the crowbar in the bicycle wheel being ridden by the evil that is Wall Street and the Koch bros. As for Hillary she is the Celine Dion of politics with a great voice and complete mastery of irrelevant bullshit.
We are in for interesting times but keep an eye on the grassy knoll because no way the richie riches will let the Trumpet blow down the walls of $ericho.

        Christie for VP ?

        • Kelly says:

I really think we are seeing the American Empire descend into chaos. Over-extended. Only financially solvent because other countries have to buy U.S. dollars in order to buy oil. Spending trillions on illegal wars for no reason other than the financial gain of moneyed American interests. Why would anyone cheer for them in the middle east versus Russia or Iran or China — at least those countries are honest about being run by thugs for the benefit of their crony financial backers. And why, why, why on earth would we jump up and play water boy to these monsters? Because the last Canadian government didn’t like Muslims? Because the people who promise our politicians lucrative post political board appointments want to get a piece of Kurdish and Libyan oil? Has it come to that?

I think half of the ideas of the Libertarian Party are ludicrous, misguided junk economics peddled by socially damaged fratboy nerds but I agree with with them that Western Countries need to stop dicking around in other people’s countries for the benefit of a handful of oligarchs. Libertarians and Socialists have more in common that many people realize.

About a month ago I read an article on Trump in Der Spiegel. It’s everywhere.
A person who looks at media has long known that our media chooses to pay attention to some parties and candidates, and ignores others.
In this American campaign, it has been even more noticeable how the media has covered one candidate only, and disregarded the presentations and ideas of others.
In a way, it reduces the voters’ chances to educate themselves about the issues and possible solutions to their problems.

  5. Matt says:

    Meh.

Romney’s words might carry more weight had he not asked for/accepted Trump’s endorsement in 2012.

    • Jack D says:

      So true.

    • PJH says:

Mitt couldn’t say enough good things about him then……his slagging now smacks of desperation by the Republican old guard…….

      • nobonus4nonis says:

mitt romney’s is the Trumpet’s barbaric practices hotline moment. the perfect foil. desperate repubs sending in the old Jeb! thinking he can do what the new Jeb! couldn’t. I’m loving every moment of the great American shakeup/shakeout.

        Oh before I forget.
Hey Cranbrook Fox just dropped your hero Rubio in the doo doo so I guess ole Roger Ailes the fugliest man on the planet will tell the sock puppets to back the out of gas Cruz missile. this is truly the crash of debilitations.:-) This is almost as entertaining as “Better call Saul.”

  6. Ron says:

    True on both counts.

  7. Jack D says:

Not to be coming to the defence of Donald Trump, but I think Romney needs to get off his high horse.

Of course, everything Mitt said was true but he’s not remotely the right guy to be conveying this message to the Republican base considering how everyone still remembers his gleeful acceptance of Trump’s endorsement in 2012. This is exactly the kind of thing that Republican voters are fed up with; a failed presidential candidate who still very much represents the establishment of the GOP coming out and telling the large swaths of angry and resentful voters that they need to do as they’re told.

Why the GOP brass thought this was a good idea, is beyond me. More over, it gives Trump a massive amount of attention –on which he thrives. Instead of railing against Trump and invigorating his supporters, the party needs to focus on finding a way to sink Cruz if they want Rubio to pull ahead.

    • P. Brenn says:

this is right on the money..in his day at Bain capital Romney had no problem acquiring companies , firing all kinds of people , merging them with other companies , firing all kinds of people again blah blah blah and making off like a bandit ….he would have loved to get his hands on trumps failed ventures pre failure so he could dump them on the unsuspecting public …get his money out and more and move on … is there no stars in the republican party that could fight this battle

  8. Kevin T. says:

Actually, it’s even worse for them, Obama was born to socialists.

  9. lou says:

We as Canadians have little to crow about. Our system produced Prime Minister Butts……er Trudeau. Politics is broken. It is up to the people to fix it. Disturbingly, the people of the USA are turning to a similar figure that will say what is needed to win. Celebrity and selfies rule. Stop being the pot calling the kettle. What is happening there is no different than what happened here. We elected a pathetically unprepared leader as well.

    • Terence Quinn says:

Interestingly enough his popularity is going up every week. His climate conference with the premiers today was quite the show of good politics. You are obviously a conbot survivor.

    • Derek Pearce says:

Please please please keep believing this, and convince your fellow Conservatives of it as well. And we’ll enjoy a 2nd Trudeau term come 2019.

    • Jack D says:

      Ahh, right.

So, a system produced by “PM Butts/Trudeau” has caused politics in Canada to break over the period of a few months but had Stephen Harper squeezed a victory out on October 19th instead of taking a massive shellacking, then our system would still be hunky-dory today.

The last time I checked taking a selfie wasn’t a crime punishable by death in Canada. If it was, your messiah Stephen Harper would have some explaining to do himself. But in all fairness, there aren’t many Canadians who would even want a picture with one of the most unpopular politicians in Canadian history.

“We elected a pathetically unprepared leader as well.”

That’s quite the accusation coming from a person sitting behind a keyboard who knows little about the PM, let alone politics. By the way, you don’t get to whine about democracy when it doesn’t work in your favour. If Canadians elected Justin Trudeau and the Liberals with a resounding majority last October maybe its time Conservatives stopped bitching about Trudeau and started asking questions as to why Canada gave them a massive middle finger late last year.

  10. Bruce A says:

Between endless war, imperialism, climate change denial, greed and “God’s Chosen People” delusion. The Republicans are a definite threat to the human species.

They honestly couldn’t care about anyone else.

loohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l64zFyTuy_8k more like a death cult.

  11. Christian says:

To all those who don’t think Trump will be elected president, two words:

    Rob Ford.

When you stand back and look at the Ford and Trump campaigns the similarities are so similar they’re scary.

    • PJH says:

I was going to comment, but I understand that Mr. Ford is back in hospital for further treatment of his cancer. I wish him well, as Im sure many poster’s here do, for a full and speedy recovery.

  12. Lance says:

The man that the GOP wanted and couldn’t get elected, is now going to beat up on the man that can get elected and the GOP doesn’t want. Pathetic.

  13. Aongasha says:

C’mon Warren, please get back to Canadian politics, this Trump all the time biz is getting tiresome. I’d rather read your take on the failure that was Vancouver and the fact that the Libs are still using Harper’s emission goals and haven’t a hope in hell of meeting their Paris agreement target. Stunny Daze flopped badly and all the press releases in the world ain’t going to cover that up, as media commentary is making clear. Hall writes – ‘lost in the smog”. Indeed!

    • Warren says:

You have to be the only person in the world who isn’t interested in what is happening in the US.

      • Aongasha says:

Mebbeso, but this is overload, but it’s your website.
However, I get a charge out of the left/progressives/Liberals slavering over Obama, Clinton, Trump, Trudeau’s visit etc. (pick one). I can even dig up quotes where every one of them mouthing of now was condemning everything about the good ol’ US of A, for generations. I even remember Liberal MPs blathering on in public about how much they hated Americans. Now, because Stunned Ways gets an invite to the WH, it’s all good. That rates right up there with Barry O getting a Nobel, one month after getting elected. That too really went well since then right? They’re all hacks on both sides of the border.

  14. Inncent III says:

Please cancel Warren’s subscription to the New York Times. Ms Clinton is looking presidential only by comparison to the Republican contest. It would be more prudent, I think, to see if a credible third-party candidate emerges. This would have been a great year for Ralph Nader.

  15. P. Brenn says:

The republicans need to do something but having Romney as the leader of the Trump the Trump movement is a joke – is that the best they have? This is why Mr and Mrs Frontporch are fed up …
