  1. Mark says:

    Kellie who?

Barbaric Cultural Practices Tip-line, that’s Kellie who.

    • Derek Pearce says:

Bingo. Those of us who do know who she is remember her looking like she had just chewed cat litter when trying to defend the snitch line with a straight face.

    • Tim Sullivan says:

Before the barbaric snitch line she felt compelled to boost with What’s His Face Alexander, she got on my radar for having been critical of Trudeau for his paid speeches.

Of course, she’s a medical doctor, a surgeon in fact, and she has to keep up her credentials current by operating. I called her on it once and apparently she operates sometimes at CHEO, but without pay.

No word on the doctors who have to forego surgery for pay because Dr. Leitch wants to dabble in politics but keep moonlighting as a doctor.

Personally I would have no problem with her getting a piece of OHIP’s largess as a doctor. It’s what we do for doctors in this country — pay them! for rendering a service.

The snitch line was something no self-respecting human should have gotten behind.

    • bluegreenblogger says:

exactly. Race baiter and niqab hater.

  2. The Doctor says:

This whole leadership race is going to be a huge challenge for the Tories. Just my 2 cents, but if they pick a zero-charisma social conservative white male like Jason Kenney, they’re fucked. Might as well transfer legal title to 24 Sussex over to Justin.

Bernier might be an interesting contrast. So would a woman with some bite — I would love to see Justin blather in the HOC or in a leader’s debate about being a feminist and have some female Tory leader melt his face over that.

    • Mark says:

      Yes and no.

Obviously Trudeau bragging of his feminism during a debate with a possible female CPC leader would be awkward, but simply being a women doesn’t necessarily entitle one to feminist superiority.

The women of the CPC have the impossible job of reconciling their feminist views with a party that, for the better part of a decade, governed with a highly white-male centric approach. They’ll have to explain why their party has such difficulties attracting women to run for them, and then attain positions of significance in government. If we go into the 2019 election, Trudeau will still have done more to shake up the political system to incorporate women than whoever the CPC leader will be. Frankly, the Liberals are so far ahead of the Conservatives on the issue of inclusiveness that its going to more that one election cycle to compete with Trudeau on that front.

I feel like some Conservatives are insisting on choosing a female leader as if it were a magic ticket to government. While I agree, the CPC should choose a strong female candidate to start reshaping the face of the party, its definitely not something that’s going to happen before 2019. This is going to be a process; it doesn’t stop at electing a female leader. We’re talking about attracting a broader female support base, more female candidates (a lot more), women taking on more prominent positions at the party level and rethinking approach to certain policies –like MMIW.

Lisa Raitt was right when she said the party has a “serious women problem”. It also has a minority problem thanks to the last election, but thats a whole other discussion. Either way, these aren’t problems that will disappear with the snap of a finger.

  3. MonteCristo says:

They have a leadership race going on, really.

Does Kellie Whatserface have an offshore account in Panama at Mossack Fonseca ?

Is Kellie Whatserface buds with Iceland’s Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson ?

    Now that would be news.

  4. ABB says:

I think that is an unfair slam against an earnest MP who is aspiring to do good for her party, and her country.

Warren I suggest this is a low blow and unworthy of you. There is nothing wrong with any CPC MP expressing aspirations for leadership, no matter how irrelevant or unknown he/she may be.

And further, it appears she may be one of the most progressive members of the CPC caucus. Would that not be a good thing, after 8 years of the Harper Regime??

    • albertaD says:

progressive? really? I was thinking more along the lines of Harper stooge – much like Calandra and Skippy – would say whatever they were told to, regardless of how asinine. Her appearances on TV were painful as she read her lines. I’ll reserve final judgment until she voices her own original thoughts, but I’m not holding out much hope….

    • Mark says:

      LOL!!!

“she may be one of the most progressive members of the CPC caucus”.

What rock have you been living under? In what world is Kellie Leitch “progressive”? Who are you comparing her to, Vladimir Putin?

I don’t think you know what progressive means. Look it up.

    • Tim Sullivan says:

If she’s one of the more progressive members of caucus, YIKES!

Unless her end of the conversation went something like: “… And, no, Minister Alexander hasn’t been doing a great job. He comes across as a know-nothing and Rosie Barton really got him on the ropes that time … No Mr. Prime Minister, the barbaric snitch line is not something I would support. It is unworkable, regressive and demeaning. Oh, “announce it”? I thought you said “support it”. Sure, where and with whom?”

    • bluegreenblogger says:

Newsflash!!! Progressives generally don’t call for vigilante snitch lines. Aside from that, the Good Doctor has no particular qualifications. And I mean none. In 8 years she achieved absolutely nothing.

  5. Matt says:

Kellie is a smart woman, which is why I was surprised she let herself get roped into the barbaric practices hotline debacle. was it her decision to be part of it, was she just being the good Conservative soldier? I doubt we’ll ever know.

No matter how good a leadership campaign she runs, she will be forever linked to that shit show, and as a result be forever tainted in the eyes of voters. Just my opinion of course.

Then you have Maxime Bernier also announcing his intentions to run. He will be forever linked to classified documents being left at his girlfriends house.

So, it looks like the pretenders are announcing first, with hopefully the contenders following in the near future.

    • smelter rat says:

Let’s not forget her unabashed support for denying critical health care to refugees. Some Doctor.

  6. Aongasha says:

This is kind of interesting really. Knocking CPC candidates will be a fun time on here – given that with some rare exceptions (maybe) none will meet with the approval of the arrogant progressives who throng the site and continually tell us of their superiority in all things. However it might serve to point out that back in 2006 no one knew Brison outside of NS, and Volpe, Findlay and Kennedy were nobodies except in their own minds and among some of the Hogtown elites of the Liberal Party. Still, I suppose one shouldn’t be surprised that Liberals would deny folks the right to run – that’s a standard modus operaendi in the party – remember they even did that to our host recently. Plus ca change, plus la meme chose.

    • bluegreenblogger says:

Would you like some cheese with your’ whine? Anybody who wants, (and can scrape up half a $million), can run for the CPC leadership. We will have plenty of fun laughing at their transparent, and hopeless ambitions. ‘Cause the racists lost, and in such a way that they are not coming back for a long long time. And Leitch was there, front and centre at the moment when the Conservatives made absolutely clear that they are counting on vigilantes, racists, and their ilk to support barbaric practices snitchlines.
