And Conservatives wonder why they lost the election

Wonder no more, etc.

Never heard of him so he can’t be too “Conservative”. I’ve seen ten times worse from Liberals and NDP supporters going after Harper and his family. That said for the party taking away family benefits, it is a bit rich that the Trudeau family is gobbling up ever last bit of entitlements they can. Most of us would kill to live at 24 Sussex but it’s a “dump” to the Trudeau family.

    • Matt says:

Well, to be fair, 24 Sussex has been in need of major repairs for what, 15 years or longer.

There is asbestos in there and I for one wouldn’t bring kids into that. So I have no problem with REPAIRS being done prior to them moving in.

Large scale or wholesale RENOVATIONS on the other hand…

    • PJH says:

The whole thing needs a complete renovation/restoration……it was in sad need of repair in Joe Clark’s time……..rotting window frames, no central air conditioning, no sprinkler system, bad wiring, plumbing, leaks, asbestos, and the foundation is in poor condition……Maureen McTeer and others think it should be torn down and rebuilt in a modern style…….Im a bit of a traditionalist, so I wouldn’t be for that……but the place needs a top to bottom restoration…..It should have been done years ago……but no gov’t has been willing to bite the bullet……now the costs will be even higher…..
I don’t think the PM or his family should live in sub-standard accommodation, especially a building that has such historical significance…….You can be darn sure when work needs to be done on the White House or Number 10 Downing Street it doesn’t get put off indefinitely……why should it be any different for our PM?……

      • Maps Onburt says:

Have you ever driven by that place? It is huge. If you or I owned it, we would do renovations in place. I changed out my windows myself which resulted in me replacing the entire backs all of my house. We didn’t move out. We did it one room at a time like a normal family. Asbestos is best sealed off and left alone. It’s dangerous to remove as no matter how careful you are, you’re bound to breath some of it in. Justin lived in that house as a kid and it didn’t hurt him. Nor Caroline Mulroney or Ben Harper. I guess they’re just “entitled to their entitlements”.

        • Matt says:

          1) We do own it. 🙂

          2) Asbestos can be in plaster, floor tiles and a bunch of other things besides insulation.

        • PJH says:

The fact is, this isn’t an ordinary residence, nor an ordinary family……there need to be wholesale changes made…..not something that you can do over a course of weekends……the place is on the verge of crumbling if the foundations aren’t fixed……not a job that can be done while the family is in residence.
I don’t see how restoring a home that is a historical building, owned by the people of Canada, is somehow giving the Trudeau’s any special treatment……This work should have been done ages ago…..and I will not think them “entitled” if the gov’t or Public Works or whoever makes these decisions, decides to go ahead and renovate/restore the residence. We should be proud of our heritage buildings, especially the one that houses our PM and family, and should do everything we can to maintain them…..nuff said….

  2. JH says:

This happened to be readily available. There’s plenty more if you’d like – all about equal to or worse then the example you cite.
And I won’t even get into some of the things said by partisan Liberals about Michelle Remple.

    Hahaha.”

  3. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

People don’t want to enter politics?

  4. rww says:

Not sure even I would consider someone who says “Don’t follow me. I’m a racist, oil hungry, seal bashing, zealot. I also may be doing the drugs” as a typical Tory.

Lots of reasons they lost the election though.

  5. Matt says:

    Meh.

May not be entirely fair to link the comments of an anonymous douche on twitter with the Conservatives.

For all we know it could be a 12 year old posting intentionally inflammatory crap just to get a rise out of people.

And just an aside, a couple hard Liberal co-workers also feel Sophie’s request is a bit much too, so it’s not only CPC and Dipper supporters.

Incredibly small sample size, I grant you……

  6. Art says:

I suspect you Conservatives will be languishing in the boonies for many years to come. You obviously don’t have a monopoly on nastiness but in general have the majority of a-holes such as this mofo dude. Same thing all over the world; mean spirited a-holes tend to be conservatives.

    • davie says:

Lol…which means that we lefties have to fill the role of magnanimous, insightful, broad minded pillars of our communities.

…and what thanks do we get for it? Hah? What thanks do we get?

      • Art says:

If you lefties contributed to a more congenial discourse us moderates (albeit leaning slightly to the left) would be much appreciative.

        • davie says:

One way to test whether or not you are using the proper pronoun is to read your statement without the noun, as in, ” …us…would be much more appreciative.”

Youse moderates can’t cover up your linguistic flaws with mere congeniality.

  7. HarryR says:

Come, come, Mr K. I thought you were one for NOT feeding the trolls!

  8. Charlie K says:

“What?! No way! Liberals are way worse!”

*References non-existent anecdotal evidence to prove weak point*

“See! Liberals are horrible; this guy was just mirroring what those Liberals say” (though I can’t point to a single instance of equal merit to back that assertion up, so I’ll massively over inflate the inflammatory nature of an innocuous comment).

What a dumb-assed process of thought. Its akin to hurling a racial epithet at a person of colour then quickly equating it to some calling them an idiot in retort.

  9. Charlie K says:

The amount of self-exoneration that Conservatives do immediately after they’re caught being utterly horrible is quite stunning.

Its the same thing that happened after John Williamson’s comments about “brown people takin’ all our jobs”; its the same thing that happened after Jason Kenney’s condescending remarks about “unaccented english”; and its the same thing that happened after Larry Miller made his opinions about foreign people “staying the hell where you came from” clear on radio.

The sort of immediate and sudden recrimination the Conservatives have gotten so predictably good at is exactly why the Conservatives are sitting in Opposition right now and for the foreseeable future. Its like theres a complete inability to recognize the abrasive tone that CPC MPs were apparently going to avoid after the election. I look forward to hearing how Conservatives intend on getting back into power by exacerbating vitriolic rhetoric from their 30% support base — the very base that calls reporters a “piece of shit” on live TV, calls Rachel Notely and Sophie Trudeau a “bitch” for simply being women in prominent roles and the very base that scape-goats Syrian refugees for their frustrations.

Quite the renaissance period for Conservatives.

    • Matt says:

Yes, some old crank Conservative supporter called a reporter a piece of shit.

The guy currently occupying the PM’s chair called CPC MP Peter Kent a piece of shit in the HOC.

      Guess you forgot about that.

      • Charlie K says:

Jesus Christ, Matt; the point of my entire comment obviously went right over your head.

Here’s the thought process of your response:

        Conservatives calling Rachel Notely a c*nt and a b*tch = Totally fine
Conservatives calling Sophie Trudeau a spoiled bitch = Totally fine
Conservative MPs making blatantly racist comments = Totally fine

Anecdotal reference not even remotely comparable in severity = Self vindication

You seem to have a tenuous grasp on logical reasoning hence your incredibly weak, trite and yet predictable retort.

        • Matt says:

          Not even remotely close?

Yeah, nice try. You clearly cited an example of a CPC supporter calling a reporter a piece of shit. I cited the example of the guy who is currently PM calling someone a piece of shit in the HOC.

Just wait to see if the Trudeau affidavits get released.

The image the Trudeau’s are working so hard and spending so much time to create will collapse like a house of cards.

          • Charlie K says:

“will collapse like a house of cards”.

            Lol.

Maybe you should start planning a “kudatah” and see if that speeds up your little fantasy.

  10. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Matt,

This thing goes all the way back to Jean Pigott during the Mulroney years. Benign neglect thanks to a series of PMs (not just Harper) requires even structural repairs…a no-brainer.

  11. dean sherratt says:

The Harper government never hid its contempt for many elements and personalities of the “liberal” media and so in 2015 it was payback time and angry old CPC supporters like this senior citizen in Etobicoke Centre were served up for special attention.

The trait of anger is not a partisan one…even a cub reporter following Pat Martin to church would be amply rewarded in just a few minutes of time. So too for those following Liberal and Conservatives…though the former, basking in popularity should be triply criticized for any angst as sore winners.

As for Ms. Gregoire, the state is already providing a cook of some renown, nannies and a staffer. As the party directly benefits, perhaps they could pay for two or more extra staffers to meet her needs or at least desires. The amount of money isn’t much but just like an error on my income taxes, if it challenges a principle, it is followed to the end for the sake of pennies.

Perhaps the upcoming electoral reform will create some list MPs and Ms. Gregoire, with little effort, can find both a salary and expenses come her way.
