Bobby Kennedy

…was assassinated on this day in 1968, when we lived in Dallas.  I remember it.

Many years later, I had the great fortune to work with his son, Bobby Kennedy, Jr.  Bobby gave my team a plug, and gave me the photo seen below, too.  It’s him on his Dad’s knee.

What a terrible day that was.  What a terrible loss.  How different things could have been, in all our lives.

Bobby

The inscription: “Warren – see you on the barricades. Bobby Kennedy”

Things certainly would have been different….an early end to the Vietnam war, no Watergate mess, a uniter that brought old, young, black, white, and Hispanics together, and someone who was determined to continue his brothers legacy….He had that great sense of “noblesse oblige”, and would’ve gone a long way in trying to eliminate poverty and injustice in the US……sad day indeed for all of us.

What an incredible man, and an incredible loss for his country – and the world. That campaign was astonishing … people reaching out and up to him, trying to get a piece of him, tearing his clothes, looking at him to lift their country up and out of the tumult of the ’60s. It was a remarkable couple of months, that’s for sure.

RFK remains one of my heroes and is someone whose influence on my life is incalcuable. I have a picture of him (and JFK) on my classroom door and when I walk in each day they both inspire me to do right by kids and to try and do that little something more.

Can you imagine if he were to run for president today?

    It wouldn’t even be close.

    Warren,

What makes RFK a true hero is this: while in the process of dying he had the presence of mind to inquire if anyone else was hurt.

A one and only act of humanity never to be seen again.

…And then there’s warren’s friend Ted M, the pride of Waterdown-Dundas, closing his classy move with a RFK quote himself!
