How do you fight something like this?…..They are opposed to the Saudis for a whole host of reasons, but it’s somewhat ironic because it was the House of Saud which permitted the Wahhabi/Salafist brand of Islam to flourish in Saudi Arabia, and along with other Gulf states, exported this brand of Islam round the globe. By the Saudis financially supporting mosques and madrassas, even printing textbooks used by the madrassas, and Islamic universities worldwide…it has turned round, unfortunately to bite them in the behind.

I’m not sure which is more idiotic – the fact that anyone could actually believe that story, or the fact the author is a “research scholar” at Harvard.
Putting together sentences with big words does not make one a scholar. In fact, you could argue that saying moronic things like this should disqualify someone from being deemed a “scholar” of anything.

the word scholar stopped having any meaning the first time they applied it to a “Professor” of women or gender studies. Today, the word “scholar” is just a label one applies to someone who teaches in University, but who has never really had to work at a real job.

In my opinion, these ISIS, etc groups are nothing more than thugs dressing up as religious types. It was not so different from the IRA, which had is agenda and then there were all the other IRA “types” who were into drugs and gun running. You can dress all sorts of things up as religious activities and it still isn’t religion. At one time American slave owners used the bible to justify their actions.
