Velshi, Critch, Frum and some other guy on the presidential race

In the new Post City. I had to convert it from a PDF on the way to Cornwall, so let me know if it’s hard to read.

I ‘ll disagree with your prediction of voter turnout. I think so many are disgusted with both of the Big Two candidates that they will not show up. I include here a number of Sanders supporters. I ‘ll pick around 50% turn out.
Of those who turn out to vote, I think between 80 to 85% will vote for the Big Two, guaranteeing that they will have a similar choice dilemma in 2020.

Biggest risk for Clinton, like you said, is voter turnout. But the Republicans have the same problem because a lot of them are gonna stay home this time. What I’m interested in is how many will vote for the other parties, and move away from their traditional voting patterns.

I think the Republicans are gonna lose, but when they remake themselves I wonder if they will completely abandon Trumps base – these are interesting times, but I figure there’s some change happening in the states, and it could be a new party – who knows, but i see too many splits, and a consistent issue electing electable presidential candidates on the Republican side, so I think the whole thing in the next 15 years is gonna change dramatically.

    Warren,

I’ve started praying that the Kinsella gut is on target. The stress is really getting to me.

David Frum qualifies as a smart conservative/Republican. What will his tribe do on E-Day? Is he an outlier, or are there a lot of similar Republicans out there in the woods?

Not related to US politics, but generally on the political front, I was pleased to see this:

It certainly doesn’t solve all the problems with Canada’s Senate, but I hope it will at least cause the Senate to be more than just the political lackeys they currently are. Naive perhaps, but gotta have optimism about something!

Cannot remember when I was ever so disinterested in politics, Canadian or American.

I also can’t help but muse…often…that, had Rubio won the Republican primary, it would be all over for Clinton and the the Democrats but the crying. The case against Hillary is so absolutely compelling that Rubio would have swept into the White House in a landslide not seen since Reagan. (All the youthful charm and charisma of Justin, with the added bonus of intelligence!) The only thing on God’s earth that is providing her even a chance at being POTUS is that she’s running against Trump. Against almost anyone else that ran for RNC nomination, she would have lost. Against Rubio, it would have been a slaughter!

That said, it ain’t over until it’s over…and I wouldn’t bet a plugged nickel on either of ’em.

What were you doing in Cornwall? That’s my hometown!
