If Adolf Hitler was here today, they’d send a limousine anyway

So, yes, I despair.  Trump, the explosion in hate, all of it.  So I turn to Joe and the boys, as always, for solace and salvation.  The best song ever, the song that changed my life.  Truncated, but truer now than ever before.  Last part, especially.

Midnight to six man
For the first time from Jamaica
Dillinger and Leroy Smart
Delroy Wilson, your cool operator

Ken Boothe for UK pop reggae
With backing bands sound systems
And if they’ve got anything to say
There’s many black kids here to listen

But it was Four Tops all night, with encores from stage right
Charging from the bass lines to the treble
But our place ain’t got no roots rock rebels
Our place ain’t got no…roots, rock, rebels

Dress back, jump back, this is a bluebeat attack
’cause it won’t get you anywhere
Fooling with your guns
The British Army is waiting out there
An’ it weighs fifteen hundred tons

White youth, black youth
Better find another solution
Why not phone up Robin Hood
And ask him for some wealth distribution

Punk rockers in the UK
They won’t notice anyway
They’re all too busy fighting
For a good place under the lighting

The new groups are not concerned
With what there is to be learned
They got Burton suits, ha! You think it’s funny
Turning rebellion into money

All over people changing their votes
Along with their overcoats
If Adolf Hitler was here today
They’d send a limousine anyway

Yup. That, “Police and Thieves” and “Career Opportunities” remain stellar, especially in today’s crap-pop landscape. The Only Band That Matters, indeed.

Looks like a good ol ( white racist ) boy from Bama gonna get him a limo if the rumours of new AG are right

    Warren,

I appreciate your updates as you come to terms with Clinton’s loss and Trump’s win. I think you leaning into your core principles in resistance is a good and healthy thing. I think an extremely large number of people in this country agree with your outrage and despair, but it is easy for those of us (currently) outside the political sphere to make all that much noise about it. So the relentless approach you are taking is valuable — it will help to keep all this in the public consciousness and help us retain good principles. That you are contributing to CBC is a good thing right about now. That platform reaches across the country — I look forward to see how you use it.

Sane people abound, and most people are good, but we all have our lapses in judgement. Regular reminders of where collective misjudgment or neglect of principles can go are important.

    Warren,

George Wallace and Robert Byrd apologized. It remains to be seen if Jeff Sessions will have to.

    BEST…SONG….EVER.

  6. Wrote something myself the other day the nut of which is that it like it is 1980 again and I am listening to the UK Subs “Warhead” 45 in my balconyless punk rock apartment with the two fridges in it. We did not get World War III we expected in the aftermath of the American election that year. What we got was a different sort of war. A war on regular people like me was what we got. A war that has yet to stop giving us a world more full of troubles than Vancouver in November is full of puddles.
