I'll be on @CityNews today for #Inauguration coverage. I'll be easy to spot, too: I'll look like I'm at a funeral. #uspoli #cdnpoli.

This is the appropriate song for Donald’s Trump victory today; not just HIS victory, but for ALL of American. The opening part is perfect. “A New Hope” indeed. Woooohoooo!!!!! 😀 😀 –

Probably more than any country in the world, Canada has to come to grips with, and work with, what has happened south of here.
It is fine that pundits and fellow Canadians echo the American Left’s alarm over a Trump presidency, but Trudeau should be at the inauguration today. The egomaniac needs his ego stroked. To protect our interests, Trudeau should be in Washington D.C. today.
And concerning the Russia connection and Trump’s fight with the CIA and other information gatherers. The new reality is that for whatever reason, it is United States + Russia. Like in 1984, the enemy has become the friend. It is to tackle China I suspect.
To make the new alliance valid, as in 1984, all previous information about the new partner must be altered. Personally, I feel it is crazy to put one’s trust in Putin, but it is what it is: a New World Order no one could have predicted a year ago.
Trudeau should go down and kiss the emperors feet?
Great negotiating tactic. Our PM’s seldom…if ever attend.
Prime Ministers never go to inaugurations. Ever.
Trudeau’s strategy, to date, in dealing with the incoming Trump administration, has been spot on: especially, utilizing Brian Mulroney’s close ties with Wilbur Ross, Steve Schwarzman, and Rudy Giuliani. A few bumps with the Americans: for sure. But all in all, I think we’ll be fine.
I am positively sure you are correct.
However,
1. What has occurred in the past, does not necessarily apply any more; and
2. Would have been an incredible gesture if Trudeau did attend.
A different United States today.
Canada needs a complete rethink as a result. The status quo is no more.
Pete doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He only plugs into politics when someone blows the dog whistle.
Oh FFS, stop echoing the stupid. Prime Ministers DO NOT attend inaugurations.
Police, this is a pedophile alert. IP address: 158.69.160.185 It’s a static IP in Montreal area. Go get him.
I am announcing that I will not be performing at The Inauguration ceremonies.
Since when is a celebration of democracy a funeral?
Alas, we live in a time of smart phones, artificial intelligence and stupid people.
Apocalypse hit when Obama flew away in Marine One and Biden left on the train.
On the bright side, basically no one showed up for Trump’s Inauguration compared to Obama ’09.
On the Canada-US trade file, when I listen to Trump’s “America First” rant, why is it that I have the feeling that I am teaching a new board game to little kids? “You can make that move and you are still within the rules of this game, but your move will hurt you as much or even more than it will hurt me, so why do it?” Systemic thinking may not be a strong suit in the new White House. Does Trump understand that lots of American jobs depend on trade with Canada? We’ll see.
