Dumb as dirt

I’d say don’t pick fights with guys who buy ink by the barrel, but I want the Unpresident in jail. So carry on, you stupid shitheads.

Key figures in Donald Trump’s administration have become embroiled in a fresh war of words with the media.

On Saturday the president had condemned media reporting of the number of people attending his inauguration.

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said there was “an obsession… to de-legitimise this president. We’re not going to sit around and take it.”

But photos appear to show more people attended the inauguration of Mr Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama in 2009.

Right after inauguration the new pres signed off on a few things: cut a programme to help new home owners, first cut backs to the health care, and ordered a new missile programme. But, yeah, let’s talk about whose is bigger.

Didn’t you hear? Pesky things like numbers are not facts – they are simply opinions. Two plus two might equal four in your view, but my “alternate fact” is that two plus two equals five. And if you disagree with me, you are part of the biased media.

I continue to believe that Kellyanne Conway can’t be as dumb as she appears, and that eventually she will resign her post to preserve some semblance of personal dignity.

You gotta wonder what is going through their heads when there is photographic and video evidence to easily refute their claims. I’m sure they will claim the photos were taken at different times of the day.

Sure, the inauguration of Trump appears to have been watched on TV (estimated at 31,000,000 to 32,000,000) by more than Obama’s second in 2013, but Obama’s first had move viewers at around 38,000,000 and Reagan’s is still the highest ever watched on TV.

And Kelly Anne Conway on CNN this morning said the administration is using “alternate facts”. WTF?

  4. Sean McLaughlin says:

Kellyanne Conway is as skilled at deflecting and turd polishing as anyone I’ve ever seen. That said, after watching her “alternative facts” interview on Meet the Press this morning I don’t know why any self-respecting news outlet would bother to put her on camera again.

      Sean,

Because they hate Trump almost without exception, but the name of the game is all about access – – and all of them want that.

  5. Doris says:

Another word coup for the Right. For years now the Right have wordsmithed their way out of the Bullshitosphere.

Now the capper – “Alternate facts” bloody brilliant

Let’s see the Left get out of this one. Bet the OED will have this as the word of the year next year; beats “post truth” hands down!

We know temper tantrum trump wont give it up but media should .. get after things that matter as noted by others here

  7. Elsie Marley says:

Poor little Donald’s party had less people than little Barack’s party. Boo-hoo. And thus the temper tantrums begin from the Man-Child in Chief. Good grief.

Goes to show you even if money can buy you an office it cannot buy you class, dignity or self-respect.

    Another thought:
In the closer photos I saw, in the background were all kinds of people in everyday jackets, scarves, hats, with their witty signs. Marches happened i all kinds of smaller communities. Many these marchers were on the street for their cause for the first time; they likely thought they would never do this. But they did go out, they displayed in public an advocacy for the cause they thought important, and they experienced all the others who were supporting each other. They got that rush (okay, so I’m dated…). A lot of those marchers are changed people today.

  9. Bill Templeman says:

Like a lot of what Trump does, there is hidden brilliance posing as stupidity, all of it served up to distract from the stealthy attacks. Classic military tactic. While the world natters about whose crowd was bigger, he cuts health care, removes climate change info, cuts funding to vulnerable people, funds missile programs, etc., etc. He is playing us like a cello.

Harper’s keynote address at the Raisina Conference 2017 in India.

Very insightful, especially his take on Trump and the implications for the US and the world.

Its interesting contemplating the evolution of Stephen Harper since 2004:

“Leading Canadian Politician Repeats Columbus Error

OTTAWA (Reuters) – A contender for the leadership of Canada’s
opposition Conservative Party was unflatteringly compared with
Christopher Columbus this week and reminded that aboriginal Indians
and people from India are different.

The politician, Stephen Harper, had to apologize after his office sent
a letter to a native group, the Ontario Federation of Indian
Friendship Centers, congratulating it on a holiday celebrating India’s
      independence from Britain.

Wrong Indians. And the mistake prompted a stinging rebuke from
federation president Rick Lobzun, who said Harper’s letter, sent in
January, recalled Columbus’s error of mistaking America for India.

“This is 2004, Mr. Harper, not 1492 … the last time a man got lost
      looking for India,” Lobzun said.

Harper’s spokeswoman, Carolyn Stewart-Olsen, said his office had used
student interns to compile a database of Indo-Canadian and other
groups as part of an outreach program and had got this one wrong.”

    Warren,

Aren’t Alt-Facts just a logical extension of Alt-Right? Trump has the shovel and keeps digging. Smile, Hillary.

Unfortunately NOT Dumb as Dirt. Diverted attention again. Never seen anything like it. Machiavellian. Before our eyes the Republican Kennedys have risen.

    I think I’m gonna barf.

It is all about discrediting reality…traditional media…and non “friendly” actors…
When the inconvenient truth gets reported…
    Jobs report
    Economic report
    Russian report
    Corruption report
    …etc

Who ya gonna believe…Bubba and Gord or the Elites?
    Simple yet devious.
