    Warren,

The women in our office vote for photo 1. The men, photo 2. (But my wager is that the women are right (as usual).

    • Terence Quinn says:

In my house photo 2 strictly applies. Personally I could care less but I am not in charge of the household thankfully.

    • Steve T says:

That has been my experience my entire life. Women tend to want it rolling from the back; men from the front.

This is the sort of thing that would make a fascinating study: why does this seemingly-neutral decision break so consistently along gender lines?

  2. Kevin says:

Ha! Looks like a slight difference of opinion happening over at the Kinsella’s place!

Anyone who has kids or pets would say the first is correct. Not having either anymore, I’d vote for the second (discerning hotels everywhere agree).

  3. Ray says:

Thank god someone finally posted this.
    ‘Waterfall’ is correct.

  4. Russ says:

#1 all the time, everyone in my house agrees ☺

  5. Matt says:

Dear GOD man, are you trying to start a war???

For the record, #2 is correct.

  6. John says:

The correct way depends on whether or not you have a cat.

  7. rww says:

Why post this. Everybody knows that. Don’t they

  8. Ted H says:

If you have one of those fancy French looking toilet roll holders with the moving curved metal cover, then 2 is correct because the weight of the cover causes the paper to tear at the perforations without having to put your other hand on the roll. However if there is no cover, 2 is risky with little kids and cats around and 1 looks a bit classier, that’s probably why comments above say that women prefer it.

  10. Kalford says:

There is no debate, there is no argument – Per S. Wheeler’s original patent for the toilet paper roll, #2 is correct.

sidenote – President Trump also thinks that #1 is correct. 🙂

  11. Kalford says:

A Key aspect of Wheeler’s design for the toilet paper roll was it’s ability (when properly used) to converse paper, reduce waste and protect our trees.

Don’t be an enemy of the Planet! – Hang the toilet paper roll correctly (cough #2) as originally intended by one our earliest and perhaps Greatest pioneers of Environmental Conservation.

  12. bluegreenblogger says:

Anybody on planet earth who both uses toilet paper rolls, and has a cat knows that 1) is correct. Except my wife, she blames it on the cat when the inevitable happens. Again, and again, and again, year after year, it is the stoopid cats fault.

  13. dave constable says:

If you you don’t hang it properly, you end up using the wrong side of the tissue.

  14. Pythia says:

It is best not to raise such controversial issues on a wholesome family website, it scares the kiddies.

  15. Terence Quinn says:

Seems like a bidet can settle that argument and save paper.

  16. P. Brenn says:

regardless..I step on each roll before hanging ..use less so environmentally correct…

Bark Up or Down? Firewood Splits Norwegians

…The TV program, on the topic of firewood, consisted mostly of people in parkas chatting and chopping in the woods and then eight hours of a fire burning in a fireplace. Yet no sooner had it begun, on prime time on Friday night, than the angry responses came pouring in…

  18. Lisa Levac says:

The correct way to hang a roll of toilet paper is in THE OVER POSITION. This is not debatable. While it is physically possible to hang it in the “under position”, it would still be wrong. There is no “alternative” way to “correctly” hang a roll of toilet paper. There is the right way (#2 in your photo), and the alternative is to do it wrong (#1 in your photo). That we still have to educate husba…I mean people about this is nothing short of insanity.
