Levant v. Awan

He loses before our nation’s highest court. That’s justice.

I wonder: are the Supremes now anti-Semitic, too, “rebels”?

The Supreme Court of Canada has dismissed a request to hear an appeal of a lower-court libel ruling against right-wing commentator and self-described provocateur Ezra Levant.

The plaintiff in the case was Khurrum Awan, a lawyer based in Saskatchewan who successfully sued Levant for defamatory comments.

Levant, founder of Rebel Media, was ordered to pay $80,000 in damages and remove the libelous material about Awan from his personal website – a decision the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld in January this year.

In an email to iPolitics Thursday, Awan’s lawyer Brian Shiller said Awan was “finally and fully vindicated.”

.. ‘anti-semitic’ is now the default deflection & war cry of Levant et al.. It stirs up a certain faction or fraction of the so called Rebel Media base.. gives it a quasi religious or persecution slant. Kinf of a zero sum gaming for all situations. Donald Trump uses a similar deflection mode.. that being ‘fake news’ .. Fairly standard and surprisingly effective deflections while denying reality

Levant has officially lost his mind.

Yesterday on his site there was a headline to the affect of Scheer Stabs Conservatives in the Back!!!

It was about the CPC voting in favour of a Liberal motion reaffirming support for the Paris Accord.

Levant ranted the “Scheer whips the vote forcing the Conservatives to support Justin Trudeau’s Carbon tax!!!”

Yeah, uh, the Paris accord is about emissions reduction, not implementing a carbon tax. It doesn’t even mention carbon tax. And the Liberals are using the exact same emission reduction targets set by the Harper Conservatives.

I think you just linked two things unexpectedly. No the Paris accord does not mention carbon tax. Its also not legally binding to any country. The fact that scheer supports the Paris agreement is indicative that the CPC believes in the hoax that is climate change. Its safe to assume then that the CPC will back the carbon tax. ESPECIALLY because it’s targets we’re set by Harpers conservatives. Unfortunately this is the case. Then again Canada has always been sort of a Sweden. And just check out how swell things are going over there.

    • Matt says:

      Uh, no.

I can guarantee the CPC will not be backing a carbon tax.

Carbon taxes or cap and trade are have nothing to do with reducing emissions. They are revenue tools for government.

You can in fact reduce emissions without imposing a carbon tax.

Of course conservatives wouldn’t use market based methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They would never say that raising or lowering taxes would effect anyone’s investment decisions. They would use a complex series of government regulation instead.

Rob: What exactly do you mean by your use of the phrase “the hoax that is climate change”? Why a hoax? Got any proof? Care to post any links to articles or reports written by researchers with legitimate scientific credentials? Just wonderin’

And what exactly is going so badly in Sweden? According to U.S. News & World Report, it is not such a bad place to live, ahead of Australia, the US, France, & Norway. Higher per capita GDP than Canada…evidence matters….. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/overall-full-list
