The people I know in government know two things very well: pressure and time constraints along with quotas. I guess it’s not your daddy’s and mommy’s federal public service. It’s produce or out the door you go for contract workers.
.. what a stunning failure ! a mind bending fail ! The ‘hate’ cultures or people are not normal & never will be. They are strangely twisted with compressed or flat lined ‘values’ – dangerous to the society they luxuriate in. ‘freedom of speech’ is a slippery legal slope as are many of the other presumptions true haters like to use as tools.
Though at a distance.. I follow this story carefully, thanks. Your efforts are highly respected and appreciated.. and the very ideals you stand up for – were violated ! Privacy, fairness, accountability etc etc.. The concept of elected & appointed ‘public servants’ striving to be exemplars is falling apart, eroding. The ‘system’ must allow complete failures or incompetance to be met squarely with ‘natural consequence’ ie replaced, fired, ridiculed or investigated
I am a bit floored at this. When I transitioned from a private law practice to the public sector, one of the first things I did was educate myself on the applicable freedom of information and privacy laws. After six months, I now have a well-thumbed copy of FOIPP and the regulations on my desk. Unbelievable that this could happen.
I appreciate the frustration, but don’t forget that Harper poisoned the well with thousands of buddies that loathe government and want Canadians to loathe it as well. This has to count for something, no?
Warren,
