The members of the Canadian Armed Forces who disrupted a protest organized by Indigenous activists in Halifax on Canada Day will be removed from training and duties as the military investigates and reviews the circumstances, says the country’s top general.

“We are the nation’s protectors, and any member of the Canadian Armed Forces who is not prepared to be the defender we need them to be will face severe consequences, including release from the forces,” Gen. Jonathan Vance, chief of defence staff, said in a statement Tuesday night.

    When my brother was in the RCN decades ago, he was told that there were two topics which he and all other officer candidates were forbidden to discuss with each other while on ship, in dock or even on shore leave, in or out of uniform: Religion & Politics. Is that still the case in today’s CAF and if so, then these “Proud Boys” should be discharged, no?

    When I was a child living in a Communist shithole, I would over-hear my parents talking in lowered voices about people that were black listed or disappeared because thew would express an idea counter to the rigid state dogma. Welcome to the club Canada! It starts with losing your livelihood…
