too late to leave but because of that she may go ….

    Warren,

That’s egg on my face. Never thought she would go so late in the cycle. A year will pass faster than strategists think. Doubt that the A-Team will run. Expect them to do a MacKay — who may or may not be waiting for the next leadership race.

  3. Kevin says:

Speculate? OK. The premier will say she is staying for the election, in order to draw fire when she resigns just afterwards.

the cons will eat brown before they allow him to win. do not underestimate the amount of discord within that party.

wynne might trigger an election early, prior to brown “bringing everyone together” (if he can). it would be in her interest. i am really disappointed that Horwath has not positioned NDP as credible alternative.. SO much potential there.. how i’d love to run that campaign.

  5. Mulletaur says:

    She will

    1. Have her “pollster” tell them all that victory is assured
    2. Ask them to indicate whether they are staying or going in a final pledge of loyalty.

  6. Matt says:

    Little confused:

The above tweet from Ms. Smith says it will be a closed door speech to the full caucus after she meets with cabinet, but a subsequent tweet says the speech will be live streamed. A closed door live streamed speech?

Anyway as for speculation on what is going to happen, a few possibilities:

    – She resigns
    – She calls a snap election
    – She’s announcing a new election campaign team
    – With the recent resignations she’s going to tell caucus if anyone else is thinking of leaving, go now so their is time to select a new candidate

My choice: With the recent resignations she’s going to tell caucus if anyone else is thinking of leaving, go now so their is time to select a new candidate

  8. BlueGritr says:

Betting that she likes her chances against the hapless Patrick Brown. Brown’s only too happy to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  9. James Smith says:

Liberal Day of Action is the following day Saturday the 19th OLP members will be out knocking on doors across the province – so may just be related to that
