I’m confused about this small business tax issue. If someone is an employee (family member or otherwise), why would that employee’s pay not be a legitimate business deduction? And even if that employee is actually doing nothing, how is it the government’s concern how you manage your paid staff?

The government doesn’t seem to take issue with paying many of its own employees to do nothing 🙂
