Keesmaat platform: vote for me and I’ll break up Ontario

Our very own social climber separatist.

So, she really doesn’t want to be Mayor of Toronto, more like Premier of the province of Toronto.

Or better yet, Queen of Keesmattistan.

Municipal politics really does attract the nut jobs.

A very long time ago an old Tory explained it to me thus: “The socialists are in the cities, and the Conservatives are in the countryside. All we have to do is blockade the cities, and then we would starve out the socialists. They would surrender.”

      RE: “They would surrender.”

I don’t think socialist’s ever surrender. They hide. They’ll let others do the fighting and the hard work. And then crawl out of their hidden spaces and hope to use other’s money to solve their problems . . . well, until it’s all gone. As I’ve said before, the best thing about being a socialist, is never having to say, “Here’s where it worked.”

      Love it…:)

Just heard from a friend who works security at Toronto City Hall.

Council meeting wrapped up about an hour ago.

    Clusterfuck is being too kind.

All the downtown lefty councillors banded together and turned on John Tory.

Wong Tam openly supporting Jennifer Keesmaat for Mayor

Joe Cressy and Mike Layton openly questioning Tory’s integrity. Tory, yes Jon Tory screaming at Layton “Get up and say it again if you’ve got the balls” after Layton made a snide smart ass comment. My buddy says he’s never seen Tory so pissed off.

Gallery full of the downtown councillors supperters cheering them on, booing Tory, chanting “Fuck Doug Ford”

    • Fred from BC says:

Wow. Sounds like the government of a third-world country.

John Tory, though, deserves whatever he gets. I had thought him to be reasonably intelligent…he’s not…

Where does it say in the constitution that provinces are indivisible or perpetual?

I think that provinces should be able to divide.

And that smaller provinces should be either become territories or be absorbed by neighbouring provinces. That process should be executed over very long time periods (20 to 25 years) and it should be involuntary. But it would be enacted in unison with EEE senate reform.

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

      Gord,

Come on. Is there anything less Canadian than forcing those with the least clout in the federation into political arrangements that they themselves are in no way in favour of?

As for the Triple E Senate, I don’t see the growing ranks of independents agreeing to constitutional reform required to enact it.

      • Gord Tulk says:

PEI is 100,000 people. And getting smaller. Ontario is 14.4 million and growing about 140,000 ANNUALLY.

I believe that a EEE senate is essential is this confederation is to endure. But the smallest five provinces plus one senator represents too small a number of people to impede everyone else to ever get the approval of Ontario which is (7/50) necessary to have EEE.

A formula that absorbs provinces with less than say 1% of the nations population into a neighbouring one if they stay below that level for 25 years and allows provinces to divide into two or more separate parts are all above 7.5% of the nations population seems a reasonable compromise that might get ontario onside. (And it would drive the nationalists in Quebec nuts).

        • Gord,

Quebec has had the same number of senators since 1867, if I’m not mistaken. You can bet damned straight that they will block reform.

Remember how they are still waiting on Canada to offer them a package that would allow Quebec to sign on re: 1982. That offer will never come, so making mischief is now our goal in the federation…

Whose fault is that, I wonder?

          • doconnor says:

I believe the Quebec Liberal government supported the Charlottetown Accord which included a triple-E senate, however a majority of Quebecker voted against it in the referendum.

          • Gord Tulk says:

Ronald. We only need 7/50. Quebec is not required. Also they could divide into three parts and triple their number of senators.

Doconnor- Charlottetown was not EEE. It was five regions – making a mockery of the whole concept.
