By your words, if not your deeds, we know who you really are

I’ve been studying and writing about the Racist Right for decades.

When you start fulminating about “globalists” (meaning Jews), a “distinct culture” (meaning a white European culture) and a global “propaganda” effort to assist “migrants” (meaning a worldwide conspiracy, usually led by Jews, to dilute the white race), you are assisting the anti-Semitic, Racist Right.

Period.

In Canada, for 200 years migration has been the norm and it has made us one of the best countries in the world by many measures.

For heavens sake. Not everyone who opposes open borders and mass immigration is a racist. Some of us simply care about our fellow Canadians and don’t want to see their wages suppressed or their housing costs skyrocket as a result of a massive yearly influx.

And to those who say immigration was higher in the early 20th century, well I will counter that immigration was much LOWER in the mid 20th century up until Mulroney, during which Canada’s middle class experienced strong wage growth and relatively low cost of living.

Maybe if the opponents focused on large number of conventional immigrants rather then the relatively small number of refugees.

Strong wage growth in the mid 20th century had more to do with stronger unionization then a lack of immigrants.

It was certainly a combination of factors. But is it in the interests of Canadians to flood the labour market with 350,000 people (plus TFWs on top of that!) year after year after year….after year…..while wages have barely budged in decades?

The comfortable Baby Boomers with paid-off homes purchased in the 1980s (might that describe you, doconnor?) love mass immigration since it means a perpetual housing bubble and more $$ for them. For young Canadians, particularly those without a Bank of Mom and Dad, however, there are no positives.
