Conservatives 37, Liberals – 32…plus Trudeau now admits Jody challenged him on #LavScam

#LavScam effect, in effect. Here.

The Conservatives appear to be chipping away at the Liberals’ chances of securing another majority in October, with Andrew Scheer’s party leading with 37 per cent in overall support among those surveyed, compared to the Grits at 32 per cent, a Campaign Research poll suggests. New Democrats, meanwhile, are still trailing considerably behind the other two parties at 14 per cent.

And check out this, from the Star,

Trudeau admits Wilson-Raybould challenged him on SNC-Lavalin

OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admits his former justice minister and attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould challenged her boss last fall to clarify if he was “directing” her to make a decision in the disputed bribery prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.

Trudeau refused Friday to say exactly what he told his former attorney general or whether he indicated his own preference to her.

“…Jody Wilson-Raybould asked me if I was directing her or going to direct her to take a particular decision and I of course said no, that it was her decision to make and I expected her to make it,” Trudeau told reporters Friday.

When asked if he had expressed a preference, and if it is possible Wilson-Raybould felt his comments as pressure, Trudeau declined a direct answer.

Just wait until the next round of Trudeau stories break.

They may just fall back to third behind the NDP.

    • Daphne says:

I’m still wondering about those signed affidavits.

    • Fred from BC says:

The worst thing is, you just know that there IS going to be a next round. I just don’t understand the strategy here, if there actually is a strategy. If you feel that you absolutely, positively must tell the public a lie to bail yourself out of an untenable situation, then you really need to COMMIT to that lie. If it’s a “he said-she said” scenario, that’s all you need to do. STICK TO IT. Abandoning your previous position and trying another tactic is just admitting to being a liar….and when you do that, why would anyone believe your next statement either? Or the one after that?

Next thing you know, you’ve become as trustworthy as Donald Trump(but without the advantages he enjoys).

I hope this leads to Gerald Butts being dumped, he has been a disaster both in Ontario and federally. While its too early to say what will happen federally, Trudeau unlike your former boss Chretien seems to be good a pouring gas on problems rather than putting the flame out. I believe Chretien had similar problems erupt multiple times, but managed to not have it hurt him. To be fair he didn’t have to worry about 24 hour social media so that helped too, but also seemed to have better instincts.

Again, the Librano translation: Nice Cabinet position ya got there . . . be a real shame if sumthin were to happen to it . . .

    • Housevader says:

@FredFlinstonesMistress, the translation is: “no pressure is on you Jody to weigh the options which include the DPA that we just slid into an omnibus bill…it’s your choice. No pressure.” Which is technically not pressure, but plausible enough to tell Fife about in revenge for the demotion.

Remember too that before this scandal, everyone said JWR was underperforming as minister?

JWR’s father said the real reason this has blown up is she was demoted. And so she obviously conflated her own self interest with the better half of a species (women) and indigenous “never heard of JWR” people (1.2million, 70 languages, 10 language families).

Most Canadians find this scandal utterly confusing. It’s the Carvilles & Roves du Canada that want this car crash to matter. Only fools and politicos care. Harsh, I know. The real heroes are the everyday Canadians that focus on delivering value, and who (through the grace of Netflix) have dodged the curse of caring too much.

This isn’t all that different from the last Campaign research poll, just some slightly out of the MoE movement and a slight swing to “the right” in the electorate as a whole.

Change from last Campaign research poll/

    CPC +2
    LPC -1
    NDP -2
    Green -1
    BQ +1
    PPC +1

Lol, this poll shows almost no change, as if baby-boomer-managed polls are becoming more accurate? Retire already! It’s Wishful thinking that a soon to be university professor – JWR – could derail the big red machine. Four words “spring gender balanced Budget.”

    • Karl Milton Marx Friedman says:

The poll I just read said Liberals -5 points down. So the message is clear, either this poll is recency bias OR american style news cycles work. Let’s face it, this is the Canadian equivalent of the Mueller investigation. And this scandal will drag on into the election.

The real lesson is that insiders crave our very own AmericAna style narratives. Hot nasty unprovable interactions, anonymous versus confidential sources. Why? Because it moderately increases engagement which the media infer means democracy is working, heightening relevance and ad revenue.

JWR along with the media capitalized on the ‘obstruction of justice’ narrative. Following that logic, this election should be about Our wall = the Pipeline that Andrew Scheer said he might be able to build. It should be about taxing the rich AOC-style the way Jagmeet can overcome his mediocrity. But that too would take Courage to offer real choices in such a diverse country.

The inconvenient truth, the gore, blood red truth is that the LPC will pickup seats in Quebec and be the foil to the Ford government, Trump and all the haters who they’ve slammed the door on. Priority is to sweep this under the rug and craft a masterful campaign when it matters: to a. implode Bubble Boy Andy who, sources say, sniffs the PMs chair for leadership insights. The wolf that is Bernier will pop Bubble Boy Andy.

And a new Liberal Majority is on the way; fall in line or get out de way!

Hey, does anyone know when the-make-all-things-better-news-conference is going to be held by Telford, Butts and Purchase?

For the life of me — I can’t find an immediate release on that anywhere!

  9. Jack says:

    LOL.

    Campaign Research?

The company helmed by the former VP of the CPC and Doug Ford’s/Kellie Lietch’s former campaign manager?

How many fuckin times did they dial Stornoway for this survey?

    • Fred from BC says:

Absolutely. They should have hired EKOS instead, with the staunchly unbiased and non-partisan Frank Graves at the helm.

  10. rww says:

Warren do you think the supposed trend of Ontario wanting different parties in charge federally and provincially will make a difference in the next federal election ?
