Alfred E. Nomore

Huge part of my youth, and my sick sense of humour. This fucking sucks.

The magazine definitely had a golden age in the 60s and 70s, and Nixon was like a gift from God to the writers. For a lot of young people then, the natural progression was: start with Mad, and then graduate to National Lampoon (which was significantly more X-rated).

Then the progression was, a lot of the best National Lampoon people ended up writing for Saturday Night Live and then the movies (hello Caddyshack).

(sung to the tune of Halls of Montezuma)

From the ants in our petunia beds,
to the crabgrass in our lawn.
We will fight them all with chemicals
’til the bugs and weeds are gone.
We’ll use quarts and quarts of poison spray,
and we won’t stop ’til we’re throoooough.
All the bugs and weeds are dying now,
but the PLANTS and TREES are too! 🙁

(Mad Magazine, circa late ’60s/early ’70s. Got into my head and refused to leave…)

I remember it to, do you remember to the air force tune—
Off we go into the bargain basement
running wild all through the place.
Here’s a clerk coming in our direction
onward girls step on his face!
made us 14 year olds laugh our heads off.
Also in mad around the mid to late 60’s I think?
