It’s over. Trump has lost – in court, and with the people.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday rejected an audacious lawsuit by Texas that had asked the court to throw out the presidential election results in four battleground states captured by President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.

The court, in a brief unsigned order, said Texas lacked standing to pursue the case, saying it “has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another state conducts its elections.”

The move, coupled with a one-sentence order on Tuesday turning away a similar request from Pennsylvania Republicans, signaled that the court refused to be drawn into President Trump’s losing campaign to overturn the results of the election last month.

There will continue to be scattered litigation brush fires around the nation from Mr. Trump’s allies, but as a practical matter the Supreme Court’s action puts an end to any prospect that Mr. Trump will win in court what he lost at the polls.

    SCOTUS tells POTUS to STFU.

p.s. I take it “not demonstrated judicially cognizable” is polite legal talk for bat shit crazy.

    In two words: fucking great!

I’m not up on the number of Supremes who would have heard these legal arguments, either in writing or perhaps less likely orally but I doubt it would have been a full bench.

Again, RBG is having the time of her life watching that dolt humiliate himself more and more with each passing day. How fitting. Hopefully, God is smiling right along with her.

This was all threatre to fund raise, most of it went to paying off campaign debts.

I would encourage all Trump supporters to clean out their 401K plans, empty their bank accounts and give it all to Trump. After all, he needs the money much more than they do, he being a poor, virtuous victim of the Deep State & all . . .

        Doc,

He should start praying every day that Biden is favourably disposed to a pardon, should that become necessary. I guess we’ll possibly get more news on that post-January 20th.

Mind you, if Trump supporters really want to save time, they can follow in the footsteps of Trump economic policy and simply hand over everything they have to the Top Two Percent. You know, Trump Trickle Up Economics!

In the court, yes. I’m not sure sure about “with the people”.

The demonstrations in DC, and the comments by millions of Trump minions across the U.S., tell me that Trump has achieved his ultimate goals:

    – Completely destroy the line between fact and fiction.

    – Convince his followers that they can’t believe anything other than what comes out of his own mouth.

    – Set the stage for 4 years of ongoing unrest, discourse, and political theatre – the premise of which will continue to be the above 2 points.

You can bet that Trump and/or the Trump sycophants will get plenty of airtime over Biden’s term. They will froth-up their adherents just like the cult they are, and nothing will stop them before 2024.

Rush Limbaugh has mused about a U.S. civil war, and I tend to agree with him. Not a traditional military civil war, but a fundamental fracture between two halves of the country. Get ready.

If the red states want to separate, go for it. They will become a third world very quickly. 70% of US GDP comes from blue counties. Reality is GOP loves to talk about makers and takers and there are net givers and net receivers in US. Just not who GOP thinks. It is red states who are the net receivers and blue states net givers. While not used in US like Canada, if you want to take about have and have not states, the have are almost all blue states and have not almost all red states.

So blue states could survive and prosper without red states. By contrast red states couldn’t or at least would see a much lower standard of living.

And now with electoral college. No faithless electors and as per election results, 306 votes for Biden, 232 for Trump. Off course Trump will try to challenge it on January 6th, but since Democrats control house and you need both houses, he will lose again for the who knows upteenth time. And even of Republicans, there are some that realize elections are about respecting the will of the people, not who you supported.

Trump is a sore loser. Losing for any politician is never fun, but most politicians with decency understand in a democracy sometimes you lose and respect the outcome. Trump doesn’t believe in democracy and is unwilling to accept the fact he has lost fair and square.
