Trudeau government: the Taliban are “our brothers”

    Must be “Manipulated Media”

  2. Phil in London says:

I learned a lot from my first boss after college. Unfortunately His phrase “fuck me” is about all I can think when I listen to this clip.

  3. Sean says:

Naturally, a normal government would remove Monsef from Cabinet immediately. Status as a Liberal Candidate would be immediately revoked.

This won’t happen because she is pretty and friendly and that is the only analysis going on in the Liberal Party war room right now.

  4. Sean says:

Maryam Monsef is sheediculous. Should have shesigned 5 years ago.

  5. Ah, the magical genius that is the Trudeau Ministry. Did she happen to mention when she’ll be hopping a plane so she can hold hands with The Taliban and call for a stirring round of Kum Ba Yah???…

Beans for brains, so many of ’em.

  6. Re: Two-Tier Health Care.

If Erin goes on the defence, he loses ground on this issue with each passing day. So, he has to go on aggressive offence each day until this totally made up bullshit is no longer a significant factor in the polls. O’Toole has to call both Trudeau and Freeland a spade in clear and unmistakable words.

As our host, the real pro would say: when you’re explaining, you’re losing.

And most important of all: don’t let your war room become exactly like them or the CPC campaign ends up being tarred with the same negative brush.

  7. Nick M. says:

    Seems like it is intentional.

I am of the opinion that the short sighted tactic here is to have soind bites in the news.

    Opponents criticise.

Trudeau says, “while my opponents are focussed on a minister for mispeaking, i am focussed on families.“

Just my opinion. Dont take the bait, let those words speak for themself.

    • RKJ says:

Nick, I’m inclined to agree – get message away from other stuff that is going on as Canada prepares to withdraw and leave many trusting helpers behind. Liberal sheep are still in the fold so the negative consequences are minimal. Will the bought and paid for media say much? Not likely. Will be interesting to see what O’Toole does. He is a former Military Officer but does he have the fighting instinct?

  8. Gloriousus et Liber says:

I always thought her ambitions far exceeded her abilities.

    • Sean says:

Exactly. Total garbage reporting. No one cares at all about any alleged cultural nuances here. If Monsef can’t figure out what “brother” means in typical Canadian vernacular, she is incompetent to a degree that she should not run for office and pretend to represent people. I don’t think for a moment that its a cultural nuance thing at all. I think she did it intentionally because she was against the war and wants to rub it in people’s faces. This was intended to be deliberately antagonistic.

      • Shane says:

The cultural reference argument to me completely ignores the fact that she is speaking for all Canadians on behalf of our elected government, and not for herself. Not all Canadians share her cultural background, and she is NOT entitled to use the reference on MY behalf. I think many Canadians feel the same way.

  9. Peter Williams says:

Our brothers the Taliban, our friends in WE, how typically Trudeauopean.

  10. Oh, a “cultural reference”. OK got it. Right.

  11. Robert White says:

The gift that keeps on giving. Better than Jelly of the Month club.

  12. Peter Williams says:

Trudeau said he wanted an election because the opposition parties wouldn’t support things he had in mind.

Justin, exactly what are these things? Recognition of the Taliban? Perhaps supporting the Taliban for a seat on the UN’s status of women committee?

  13. Gilbert says:

I don’t think her brothers share her views on abortion or homosexuality.

    • Montréalaise says:

Her brothers also would not allow her to hold political office – or any job, for that matter – and would order her to stay at home, venturing out only when accompanied by a male relative and wearing a burka.

  14. Steve T says:

Some people experience the Taliban differently.

  15. Peter Williams says:

Jagmeet Singh pledges to reduce cellphone and internet bills.

Mr. Singh, in the last election Justin Trudeau promised to do this. For three years you Mr Singh supported Justin Trudeau’s government. During this time why didn’t you force Trudeau to fulfill his lower cellphone and internet promise?

  16. Lukas Klein says:

I shouldn’t be laughing, but I can’t help but chuckle at:

“to speak to (long pause) our brothers the Taliban.”

Obviously she knew it was a dumb thing to say, but that’s what the script said, and LPC cabinet ministers do what they are told.

  17. Peter Williams says:

Canada ended evacuation flights from Afghanistan. Justin Trudeau thanks all Canadians trapped in Afghanistan for their contributions.

Although Justin had four months to evacuate Canadians (and Afghan helpers) he was too busy taking photo ops.

Justin hopes you enjoy your new lives amongst his brothers.

    • Peter,

What happened to the next one to two months? Now let’s see Prime Minister, take out your fingers and count: 1, 2, 3, 4, AND 5 days left before the 31st deadline. That’s five fingers, Justin. Got it now? (Don’t bet either way.)

  18. Here’s a pro’s tip: when you arrive in Kabul, when the Taliban turns left into the stadium, remember to turn right.

  19. JPB,

Like I said, you’ve got guts but keep in mind the concept of thinning ice.
