  1. Warren,

We, the Irish, next door to Vikings and other peoples. Of course, you’ve been there before.

  2. Warren,

The ministers will never resign and they won’t be pushed out either. And they’ll use the ultimate political fig leaf to justify it: sure, we mused about using tanks between ourselves but we never actually called out the tanks. In short, a useful fig leaf but one with no actual credibility for this government.

But then again, what credibility? They have absolutely none left now, having eroded all of it years ago.

Sigur Ros amazing. Have most of their cds. This is likely my favourite track. Must revisit them:

And nice to hear Ryan Leef get a mention! Passed on a link to the podcast and told him. Used to do the odd track session with him and Kevin Sullivan 30 years ago. Ryan is hilarious and Sully was basically his straight man. I bet he is not missing Ottawa one damn bit.

And if JT would have fought him instead of Brazeau, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess now!

  4. EA: let’s cut to the chase. Who gets to select and name inquiry commissioners? So, that in and of itself limits the scope of inquiry recommendations. Commissioners never re-invent the wheel, nor effectively rake their political “masters” over the coals. Never.

  5. Ukraine proved that conventional wisdom is worth little, if nothing. So who knows how the war will go.

  6. Warren,

You were shocked by what Trump did in having those bozos over for dinner at Mar-a-Lago. I thought it was merely par for the course for this dumbass. Racists, antisemites, you name it, it’s all good in those quarters.

And the Trump dolts were thrilled with the ongoing publicity it generated worldwide. It changed not a single vote among that crowd. Not a vote.

So, that means that the rest of ’em who run in ’24 don’t have a prayer in heaven of betting Trump for the nomination. That’s the cold, sad, reality.

Conversely, the oaf-in-chief doesn’t have a hope in hell of ever being elected to the presidency again. Thank God for that!

Badass Warren! Hot Nasties Calgary! THANKS

People misunderstand what Brendan Miller / convoy lawyers are doing at a hearing such as this.

They are not appearing as competent advocates… rather, they are appearing as cheap entertainers… and they are obviously smart enough to know it. They are the most cynical sort of political carnival barkers… just looking for rubes. I suppose it’s an easy racket if you can get it.

The idea is to keep the convoy supporters cranked up and keep sending in money. Seeing their guy get tossed from a hearing just gets their own people more riled up and more likely to open up their pocketbooks.

They demanded a hearing only for the spectacle of being thrown out of it. As a tax payer, I’m embarrassed that I had to pay for even a moment of it.

The whole convoy movement was a fundraising scam from conception, to occupation and now the follow through.

If you want to invest in your future, you’d do better with online gambling.

I keep wondering whether Miller might find himself in the poo with the Law Society in Alberta re: that defamatory allegation he made.

I don’t know enough about the ins and outs of litigation privilege to know whether that will save him on the defamation/libel front, the libel notice that was served on him etc. But I do wonder whether that stunt might still be egregious enough for a complaint to the Law Society to have some legs. I’d definitely be interested to hear some learned experts on that topic.
