I actually think Torontonians will be thinking about the price of bread. Couple of inches of snow and it makes the national news and there are demands for the army to intervene. They don’t take discomfort well.

    • Derek Pearce says:

It was closer to 80 inches of snow in a single day& night. On Victorian-era street widths. Jesus people and their preconceptions of Toronto. You have to be tough to take the TTC to work and back every day. We can deal with discomfort.

      • Martin Dixon says:

I have lived there. I have no preconceptions. Glad I’m out. Although, I am not sure what or where you are talking about. In the last 25 years, Toronto has exceeded 80 inches in an entire winter only once. WNY gets whacked with that much snow in a short period of time regularly. They usually respond by making snow angels.

If you weren’t there to see it gimme a break. There was NO WAY ambulances could get through. Also how long ago did you live here? Believe me, since the pandemic, the TTC has gotten sketchy. Not even for violence necessarily, (though there is that), I’m just tired of hearing random people screaming. Random people SCREACHING and screaming in every goddamn station for no reason. It, uh, grates on the nerves shall we say…

          • Martin Dixon says:

It’s just a joke Derek but I see it can still touch a nerve. Keep in mind out here in flyover country, we get condescended to regularly by the folks in the big smoke. It is a ridiculous overrated city that elects PMs and you are actually providing some reasons why it deserves that reputation.

Price of food made the front page of The Toronto Daily Star today.

JT’s condescending woke nonsense won’t solve it.

    • Martin,

Just got back from Pierre’s cocktail. Over 100 people, or so I was told. His wife was great as usual. Pierre’s speech was primarily on inflation and free speech with a small blurb on the cost overruns of our tramway. The best part was when he said we don’t have to agree with Peterson. I was 100% in agreement with that one. Finally, his printed sheet was on the right track: a great photo of husband, wife and the kids. Real family man stuff. Exceedingly smart marketing, hopefully to see again widely distributed in the general.

      • He said Peterson has a right to free speech and who can argue with that if no hate speech is involved. Of course, hate speech is always in the eyes of the beholder.

Nice Ronald. Maybe if he shows up here I will actually go see him. I do enjoy listening to him talk. I will normally spend good money so I DON’T get dragged to those things. Passed on Harper the two or three times he showed up in Brantford including a very small pre budget thingie. Now maybe PP won’t show up because Larry was one of the few mps that supported MacKay so he is still kind of working his way out of the wilderness(he is getting there) and I suspect he won’t need any help to get reelected anyway. As far as free speech goes, it is not a thing the left supports anymore. As I have said before, WTF happened to the 60s hippies. They are all pro big pharma, pro big government and anti free speech now.

One person from Quebec that won’t be voting for JT next time but may be losing his position as a panelist on P and P.

1:36 in if you can put up with all the ads. Martin Patriquin on JT’s comments about Moe. Called them passive aggressive and in bad faith and then went on to say(I had to write it all down because the video wasn’t available) that they were petty, smallball, immature, childish, petulant, vindictive and silly. And then even funnier for those of us that like to smugly break our arms patting ourselves on the back about our politics up here vs the US, he said that JT could take a lesson from Mitch on when you have to cut out the partisanship. That gave the horrified guest host an opportunity to segue to US politics(no one really weighed in on his comments-the rest of them would like to keep their jobs). Now, none of this is news to anyone that has not been blinded by this cult leader(it has been obvious for years) but thought it bore repeating. Mocked his sunny ways comments too.

    • Martin,

I hope this Prime Minister somehow manages to integrate all of the above into his personal resume. After all, the world will be breaking down his door just to get him on their payroll as a future partner, director or employee. Right.
