KINSELLACAST 266: Inmate Trump, Bell Media jerks, plus Lilley, Kheiriddin, Mraz, Shiller! And: Pleasure Pill, Maura, Steady Hands

  1. Warren,

The Trudeau Liberals asleep at the wheel? Well, I never. Trudeau Liberals are serially not accountable, not to Parliament, not to their own caucus and not even to God. The Trudeau way is the only way and they don’t give a flying fuck (to use a Kinsellaism) whether any of you happen to like it or not. Bring on the election!

  2. John,

What I want to know about is Sudan: what’s the real deal there? Is it only a fight to the death between two fascist generals or is there so much more to that equation? Thanks. I know that the Wagner Group is at least fucking around at the margins. Not good.

  3. Warren,

All trials are, by necessity, going to be delayed until after the fall of 2024 at the earliest. Like both of you, Americans are nervous, if not anything else.

  4. The key to getting off the hook is prompt cooperation with The National Archives and as quick as possible return ASAP of classified documents and other presidential archive material. Trump fought it every step of the way. Big mistake.

  5. Justin Trudeau is a blithering idiot on his best day. Need I say more?

    • Why would Trudeau embrace ministerial responsibility because if he does, it logically flows from that that in addition to so many others, this Prime Minister would have to be the very first to go.

  6. Bell Media. Is it all about the bottom line?

  7. Pierre will make his win or his loss. The direction he chooses to go in the election will either make him PM or not. It’s as simple as that.

But then again, just look at how successful I was in giving Johnston advice. Rinse and repeat? I truly hope not.

  8. Peter Williams says:

The PMO keeps three sets of explanations; one to mislead the public; one to mislead cabinet; and one to mislead themselves.

  9. Martin Dixon says:

Really liked Pleasure Pill and Out Of Love. Forget Ministerial responsibility. It really IS just a question of acting with honour. Mistakes get made in my business. By me and my staff. But they are all mine. I can’t even imagine going to a client and rationalizing it by blaming my staff. They would laugh at me. It is unfortunate that the Truanons don’t react in the same manner.

  10. Curious V says:

Wonder if Trump could plead insanity, he’s detached from reality. A narcissist who blocks out all reasonable advice – the guy is delusional.

    • Curious V,

January 6th is the strongest case by far. Effectively it’s treason and sedition. Wouldn’t want to be in Trump’s shoes post 2024. Nope, not one minute.

    • Martin Dixon says:

That looks very familiar. More T smugness from Canadians when we have the same mess up here. Why I can’t get excited about T. They are at least dealing with the guy. We, on the other hand, not so much. One’s own backyard, look in the mirror, etc. etc.

  11. Curious V says:

You’re right that without sufficient news gathering we’ll be left with amateurs yelling at each other on twitter, or disseminating absolute bullshit on Facebook. Social media hasn’t done us a lot of favors in terms of news quality.

  12. Sean says:

It is probably in everyone’s best interest that bureaucrats prevent this cabinet from knowing what is going on. Until a normal Government can be formed, that is probably the best way to serve the public.

    • Sean,

PCO is supposed to be there to serve and advise the PMO while maintaining both an official and unofficial respectable distance and detachment. You know, the Chinese wall. But since 2015, PCO has been repeatedly nailed for crossing that invisible line and acting as this PM’s handmaidens. So, don’t expect a conversion on the road to Damascus because it’s not in the cards at all.
