Quebec so far this week:
• Synagogue firebombed
• Imam says Jews should be exterminated
• Pro-Palestinian screams “kike” at Jewish student
• Professor calls Jewish student “a whore,” says go back to Poland
• Two Jewish schools hit with gunfire
And it’s only Thursday.
I remember reading Mordecai Richler’s books, and he was one of my favourite authors. He talked about anti-semitism in Quebec, but I thought that was from a different time. How can this be happening in 2023? Where are our leaders?

Lets be honest. I’m from Quebec as I am sure some of you are….is anyone surprised at the anti sematic violence in the Province? No different from when I was young.

We can preface the whole thing with the iron-clad fact that antisemitism exists is all Canadian jurisdictions, not just Quebec. But here in Quebec it has roots that go all the way back to Duplessis and perhaps earlier.
EHWAL says where are our leaders? In short, in Quebec, nowhere. We live in a jurisdiction where our Premier says absolutely no racism exists in Quebec! Right, tell me another one…so example comes from the top and here the premier totally abdicates his responsibility to a) admit it exists and b) call it out for what it is…

In Quebec, at least 70% of the clergy was with Pétain rather than with de Gaulle. Need I say more?
The Resistance wasn’t even supported by a majority in France.
