Mulroney’s faults are well known and on the record, but the greatness of Brian Mulroney was his unending ambition to reconcile the Canadian family and bring Quebec into the heart of this disgraceful constitution. Quebec generally rallied to Mulroney’s side, while English Canada demurred and yawned in positive delight. The only great thing about this country is the Charter. The rest of the Constitution Act 1982 is nothing more than a piece of shit.
My condolences to his wife and family, and may he rest in peace.

The Prime Minister’s speech was very nice in both official languages. It was impressive having been given seemingly without notes.
Teleprompter, most likely. Notice how he looks to the left, says a few words, then to the right, repeats, always the same positions. Rarely straight ahead. Classic use of teleprompters.

Pierre’s speech was also very nice. He also spoke in both languages and apparently without notes. His part about mentorship is new to me. Another well spoken tribute. Nice part about Irish eyes in heaven and then our leader takes questions, like Chrétien.
