KINSELLACAST 298: SFH return – plus Kheiriddin, Belanger, Adler on Canadian, Israeli and US politics

  1. Warren,

Funny how we keep up the good fight without threatening or intimidating anyone. Our side does the same. One wonders why the Palestinian side can’t divorce itself from threats, intimidation and in some cases violence here in Canada? It says far more about them and what remains of the credibility of their cause. Palestine is going down the drain in so many circles thanks to THEIR behaviour, both in Canada and worldwide.

  2. Warren,

The NDP should shoot for Official Opposition. If the stars align just about right for them it could happen. How ironic if Trudeau took them from third to first and ultimately right back to third. The beautiful irony.

    • Warren,

My prediction: short of a miracle, in a March or April election, Trudeau will get fewer seats than Michael did. You read it here first. Keep the egg handy just in case someone has to spread it across my face.

      • Martin Dixon says:

I don”t think the shift in the polls is as simple as Karl makes them out to be. I think the NDP is losing some voters to the Tories and they are picking some up from the Liberals.

      • Douglas W says:

Ronald, I’m hopeful for a Spring vote but … the NDP does not have the cash to finance a national campaign, and the Bloc is fine with the way matters are, right now.

In the unlikely scenario that there is an election this year, I can see the Official Opposition being the BQ.

    • Peter Williams says:

The NDP should shoot for official opposition.

Will they promise free Versace bags to all Canadians?

  3. Warren,

The square root of fuck all. Luv it!

  4. Martin Dixon says:

Dug up some of Charles’ writing on Iggy. That was an interesting conversation.

    https://www.netnewsledger.com/2011/04/18/the-professor-is-getting-a-failing-grade-adler/

Enjoyed the SFH stuff. Bjorn a great timekeeper especially on Yellow Beetle.

  5. Warren,

Newsom…is no saviour for the Democratic Party. Not at all. He’s one of the most tax and spend Democrats. The top STATE tax rate in California is 12.3%. Most of the country won’t go for that.

    • Warren,

But all is not lost for Biden just yet. The latest ABC News Poll says this: “Amid Trump’s legal battles, an overwhelming number of Americans (66%) think the former president should not be immune to criminal prosecution for actions he took while president, according to the poll”.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Which is about half of what it is in Ontario but I digress. Put this on another thread.

“Bill Maher’s guest Caitlin Flanagan (California born and raised) goes on a rant about how poorly Gavin Newsom is running the state of California. She preceded the rant with:
“I know you’re friends with Newsom”
“I know you like him but I can’t imagine him having the gall to run to lead the country when he’s led this state into the ground”
“The hospital put out a notice last week: ‘Employees are not to leave for lunch it’s too dangerous in downtown Oakland”

    • Douglas W says:

Ronald, as we’ve all come to learn, winning the White House is about winning the half-dozen or so swing states.

Newsom might be able to do that.

  6. Charles,

I was for Ignatieff 1000%. But I respectfully give you your due as one of the best Conservative strategists. Way, way, way beyond well played! Pierre should pay very close attention to what you say in the next election campaign.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Ronald, take a stroll on Twitter if you want to see what he thinks about Pierre. Any advice he gives him will not be charitable in nature.

  7. Martin Dixon says:

No sign of Justin in the house today to take questions about the Arrive Can report.

  8. Peter Williams says:

    Re ArriveCAN aka ArriveScam:
Dominic LeBlanc told reporters in Ottawa Monday afternoon the contracting process was “unacceptable”.

    https://globalnews.ca/news/10288411/auditor-general-arrivecan-report/

What does unacceptable mean? That they got caught?

Team Trudeau has increased the size for the civil service by 25%, and increased the amount paid to consultants by about 7 billion dollars. What are these people doing?

If we had a TV series called The Trudanos, the media would say no way could The Trudano tales be true.

  9. Peter Williams says:

“Our government has made the decision to stop investing in new road infrastructure. … The network we have is perfectly adequate to respond to the needs we have,” said Stephen Guilbeault on Monday, while encouraging more use of public transit.

    https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/electric-vehicles-not-a-panacea-for-climate-change-steven-guilbeault

I wonder when Stephen and his cabinet colleagues will give up their government cars and drivers and start taking public transit. Oh Stevie an friends, don’t forget to sell your personal cars.

Left unsaid; how will we achieve the Liberal/NDP aim of 100 million population with no new roads?

    The roads will build themselves?

Or will we demolish all houses, to build what my aunt used to call ‘Moscow housing’, i.e. big six storey walk up apartment blocks? No elevators to save on electricity.

    • Martin Dixon says:

They haven’t even got to this yet in QP because of #WheresTheFunds. So much material and they only have 45 minutes.

      • joe long says:

Who was Trudeau challenging to fisticuffs at 7:51 to 7:53 on this video?

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk_BBlt_c3o

      • joe long says:

Listening to Trudeau blaming the $250 million on the pandemic is fascinating. The cash to this “IT” company started flowing in 2015. the COVID pandemic was recognized by Team Trudeau in early 2020.

But perhaps Trudeau was referring to a pandemic of cash disbursements?

        • Martin Dixon says:

Literally 10 seconds after he took office. Why do you think those barking seal public service types gave him a standing O. They were back in business. It also is like when he blames the massive increase in spending on the public service on the plague. Fine. So, if true, why isn’t he unwinding it.

      • Peter Williams says:

        WTF

        Where’s The Fuzz?

    • Martin Dixon says:

Tim Powers just said on P and P that he is not a dumb guy but that he knows it is over and he is trying to work his way back into the good graces of the crowd that are even crazier than he is and he has disappointed over the years.

  10. Warren,

    From CTV News:

    Ain’t love just grand!

“Chief public health officer issues syphilis warning on Valentine’s Day

Canada’s chief public health officer has issued a Valentine’s Day warning about the dangers of syphilis, with cases doubling in the country since 2018.

“I would like to take the opportunity to bring attention to the serious health risk posed by syphilis in Canada and the importance of early testing to change the recent upward trajectory in new cases,” Dr. Theresa Tam said in a statement on Tuesday “Canada, like many countries, has experienced an alarming increase in syphilis cases.”

    • And then there’s this from The Atlantic:

“Happy Valentine’s Day: CDC Announces an ‘Ongoing, Severe Epidemic’ of STDs

Timing is everything in the disease business, which is probably why the United States Centers for Disease Control waited until Valentine’s Day Eve to announce that the United States is home to 110 million sexually transmitted diseases”.

  11. Peter Williams says:

    WTF?

    ILP

    • Martin Dixon says:

The usual suspects are freaking out because WTF is grammatically incorrect(as if that is relevant but I digress). I am no wordsmith but Where’s The Funds passes muster on grammerly sites for some reason. Like Where’s The Money would. I think it relates to the fact it is a mass noun. I asked 3 TOEs who said it was wrong but challenged them and they have now gone dark. Some of the people mocking it are “journalists” so you would think they would know but who knows.

    • Peter Williams says:

      ILP

      In …. Pockets

You can fill in the missing word

  12. Peter Williams says:

Have the Liberal cabinet given up their cars?

I mean climate change (aka global warming) is a serious problem. Isn’t it?

Or are they exercising Liberal privilege? Cars for them, busses for us

  13. Peter Williams says:

Sean Fraser says all Canadians share a moral failure for homelessness.

    https://www.blacklocks.ca/all-to-blame-for-homeless/

No Mr Fraser, it was you and the rest of the Trudeau/Singh government that increased both immigration and student visas to a level where housing is now unaffordable.

Harry Truman had a sign on his desk saying “The buck stops here”.

Unfortunately for Canadians “The buck stops here” has a different meaning to Trudeau Liberals. Where’s the Funds?

  14. Warren,

The Orange Cheeto is finally getting what he so richly deserves for the second time. Just the beginning of the judicial iceberg. Makes my weekend!
