But the current result does feel different – because as a society, we used to be capable (if not relatively comfortable) deciphering information in shades of gray. Now, everyone and everything must be declared “good” or “evil,” and worse, once a side has been determined to be one of those things, any action thereafter associated with the “good” side is now surely righteous, and any action on the other side is inherently terrible.
This is how you end up with the kinds of assholes who think that harassing private citizens at their homes is acceptable, but also others who turn a blind eye to human depravity – or worse, they start reveling in it.
