  1. Warren,

Assuredly, yes, inflation is coming down, which will help Biden regain some ground. Under the cooked numbers, inflation is now at 4% and dropping. But under previous more accurate formulas which include more inflation elements, inflation is dropping but is still at between 7 and 12%. Not good for Joe if people aren’t personally feeling it.

  2. Warren,

    The Jerusalem Post:

“October 7 victims sue UNRWA USA for alleged financial support of Hamas

American and Israeli victims of the Hamas October 7 massacre are suing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) USA National Committee for alleged financial support of the terrorist organization, according to a lawsuit filed in the District Court of Delaware on Sunday.

The lawsuit mentioned a 2017 Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center report which said that Hamas controlled a UNRWA Gaza staff union since at least 2009. In a February 16 statement, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed that 12% of local staff were affiliated with Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Gallant accused 30 UNRWA workers of taking part in the October pogrom. The Wall Street Journal reported in late January that at least two had helped kidnap Israelis and others had coordinated logistics for the assault, such as the procurement of weapons.

  3. Trudeau and Joly need to resign NOW.

    • Douglas W says:

Agreed but … they’ll never have it this good.

Plus, they know they hold all the cards for the time being.

They’re not going anywhere, although I wish they would because this country is too important to be run by frauds.

  4. Warren,

Agreed. Jivani is auditioning for off at the far end of the CPC swimming pool. Pierre needs to keep this guy in check. The Ford machine is kind of helpful to the CPC in elections. Guess that’s not important for Jivani…

  5. Warren,

Harper was labelled by Liberals and others as Mr. Angry, and he often was. But he still won post-2006, after losing in 2004.

Pierre showed who he is during his tribute to Mulroney. That’s the real Pierre that everyone saw on television. The Mr. Angry bullshit won’t cut the mustard this time.

Surf Curse track is amazing. I see there is a version with Travis Barker. Loved the Laura Jane Grace track-was always an Against Me! fan. Mt. Eddy track was great too. Interesting about the Green Day connection-you sure can hear it. Had one by them and never made the connection.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Down in a bit of a rabbit hole on Surf Curse trying to figure out why I already had the track Freaks and I see they almost were “cancelled” because of Me Too allegations. Oh and on the non musical portion of the broadcast, I really can’t take any event seriously that the Liberals send the Ken doll kayaker to. As far as Justin goes, maybe his evil plan is to hope T does win and then really run against him. Does anyone not think he would be incapable of that sort of selfish nonsense to save his own skin? And his hated of Pierre appears visceral. That usually results in logic getting thrown out the window. But I so hope and pray you are right he goes. Break this fever. I barely paid attention to politics before 2015. I was a strong supporter and friend of my local MP and would have been even if he were a Liberal. I think I can point to elbowgate as the start. May 18, 2016 when Justin proved he was the spoiled narcissist people suspected he was. Did a stroll on the interweb and found this quote:

“Bricker thinks Trudeau’s early successes have been so spectacular that he and his inner circle have begun treating opponents as either “not getting it, or just ideologically opposed, when in fact there are people of substance and goodwill who actually disagree with him, and it is a mistake to dismiss those people.””

      No shit.

  7. Martin Dixon says:

This is 75 minutes I won’t get back. Actually listened to the interview of Liberal Kim Campbell.

Funny that no one has raised the fact that one of the interviewers was Amanda Alvaro who was caught up in her own ethics scandal with Mary Ng.

This is how she describes her site:

“The political club for “non-political” women”

    Beyond parody.

  8. Curious V says:

What’s the world gonna look like if Trump wins. I like Biden, and I supported Trudeau – With their respective countries at risk of falling to the extremes of the right they should both resign. There’s no shame in resigning, they’ve both accomplished a lot, but it is time to go to save us from the impending hell that is Trump and Pierre Poison.

    • Curious,

I promise to take the sting out of it for ya when we win. I’ll send you some donuts.

    • Curious V says:

To be clear, if I were voting in the next presidential election I would support Biden all the way. I don’t mind that he’s older because I think he’s the most competent. It’s just that if the divide becomes so big, like in Trudeau’s case, well it’s time to let somebody else take a shot.

  9. Sean says:

SOTU: Biden knew the inning and knew the score. He waltzed into the batter’s box, winked at the pitcher, swung at the first offering and drove a bomb right over the wall and straight into 2025. While circling third base, he laughed and blew a kiss at the opposing teams dugout.

  10. Gilbert says:

Why can’t President Biden say Donald Trump’s name? Is he implying the former president is Voldemort?

    • Sean says:

Its always good practice to avoid saying the name of the other candidate:

      – avoid giving them unearned attention
      – keep from blatant Ad-hominem attacks / keep it about the issues, not the person
      – subliminally, it leaves voters with the impression that the other guy doesn’t even deserve to be part of the discussion / is not even a valid player. With Trump, that’s true.
-A smart candidate, when on their own, should always portray the election as being about their issues, their ideas, their positions, their agenda. The other guy doesn’t even matter. The other guy’s positions matter, true, but don’t ever attach the other guy’s positions to a *human being* that middle of the road voters can relate to.
      – Trump is a unique candidate to be running against. Biden should keep referring to him as “my predecessor”. It is a subtle reminder of why people voted for Biden in the first place and also that Trump is a loser who was defeated.

  11. Martin Dixon says:

The CRA already starting to backpedal on the new insane “bare trust”(undefined in the ITA) reporting requirements. This nonsense has been brought to you by the same geniuses that brought us the UHT. None of these people can ever have worked out here in the real world:

  12. Gilbert,

There are certain mandatory protocols around the State of the Union when it comes to parliamentary language. This is a reflection of that.

  13. Warren,

I really, really, really, really hope Trump chooses Stefanik as his running mate. Talk about two imbecilic peas-in-a pod.

    From: Alternet:

“‘Serial liar’: Stefanik roasted after taking credit for federal money she voted against

House Republican Conference chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) recently patted herself on the back for a $1.8 million federal grant a community within her district received. However, that money came from a bill she and every other Republican opposed.

Local publication North Country This Week — based in Stefanik’s 21st House District in upstate New York — reported that the US Department of Agriculture grant went toward the South Raquette Water District in Massena, NY. Stefanik took credit for the funding, telling the outlet that she helped fast-track the grant application through the House Appropriations Committee to quickly get the funds approved.”

  14. Warren,

This is a great weekend. This is the beginning of the end for Russia in Ukraine.

    From The Daily Digest:

“UK military presence in Ukraine reveals a fractured NATO

A German military leak reveals that British soldiers are ‘on the ground’ in the Ukrainian battlefront, helping Kyiv troops.

According to The Guardian, Russian media shared an audio recording of a top-secret call between German air force officers talking about the presence of UK military personnel in Ukraine.

The call, which was broadcast on Russia Today and other Moscow-affiliated news outlets, has been described as the head of the Luftwaffe discusses [discussing] how the British were helping Ukrainians to fire long-range Storm Shadow missiles.”

  15. Warren,

And then there’s the contrast between staid old Ottawa and rambunctious London.

    From Reuters:

“Canada’s Trudeau says he often mulls quitting his ‘crazy job,’ but will stay on

OTTAWA (Reuters) -Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose Liberals are trailing badly in the polls, on Friday said he thought about quitting his “crazy job” every day but insisted he would stay in office until the next election.

“I could not be the man I am and abandon the fight at this point,” he told French-language broadcaster Radio-Canada in a lengthy interview.” [Full of himself, as usual…]

    From The Daily Mail:

“Plot to crown Penny Mordaunt as PM: Tory MPs on Right have held secret talks with moderates about replacing Rishi Sunak with Leader of the House

Source says deal emerging that would see issues sub-contracted to rebels

Mood has changed among MPs from ‘resigned’ to ‘actively angry’ says source

MPs on the Right of the Tory party have held talks with moderates about uniting behind Penny Mordaunt to replace Rishi Sunak.

Sources said discussions were held this week about the possibility of crowning Ms Mordaunt as the new leader in a ‘coronation’ if the Prime Minister faces a confidence vote in the coming weeks.”
