Militarie Gun/Dazy track was worth the price of admission all on its own. Channeling something-I’ll get it. Will be a long four years, I am going to be working on all my interweb algorithms to be geared more to music.

The Liberal majority that has been gamed out since the fall (no one really fell for the Freeland nonsense did they-so cute if you did)will be a reality shortly. Thinking whatever NDP member crosses the floor will not be a MP after the next election so he or she better manage that 300k a year pay cheque properly.

Carney gets his majority. A PM with a majority in Canada is about as close to a dictator as you can possibly get. Coyne goes down a 4000 word rabbit hole in the Globe yesterday with an excerpt from his book but I can save folks a lot of time(and money if anyone is thinking about buying his book). That is the bottom line. Carney will have the power of a dictator and will not be held to account until October 15, 2029.

He is already talking about as small a cabinet that he can get away with because, let’s face it, does anyone really think he will take any counsel from a bunch of caucus plebes, really?

Oh and as I said elsewhere, Brian was right, Carney went down to Washington and did precisely what all the usual suspects said Pierre would do. Pretty well kissed the ring and then T flossed the visit. I can’t even imagine how the same usual suspects would have reacted if Pierre would have been in a promotional White House video like Carney was after his visit. It is a least a source of lots of amusement.

Another Catholic here. Thinking about my mother on Mother’s day. My mom had two sisters that were nuns. We used to be told that if you were a mother and one of your kids became a priest or nun, that was your ticket to heaven. None of the nine of us became one but I know she didn’t need the help.

    • Martin,

Here’s my two predictions: no party status for what remains of the NDP especially since they propped up those hypocritical assholes for two years. Secondly, two NDP MPs will crossover and both will be put in cabinet on Tuesday.

    • Gilbert says:

I agree with a small cabinet. Cabinets of the past have made Canada look overgoverned.

      • Martin Dixon says:

I totally agree. Particularly in this case because they will just be there to fill seats at meetings. Be interesting to see if Sean what’s his name makes it back in because Carney told him he still would be able to spend lots of time with his family.

Oh and I thought maybe, just maybe, you might have played this given that it was released 43 years ago yesterday:

  3. Warren,

    Carney didn’t trick me.

  4. Warren,

I rarely agree with Manning but you have to let them have their say and potentially right to vote. This is democracy and Canada has never been sacrosanct. If they’re allowed to express their grievances and desires, less people will be prone to voting Yes in a future referendum, if it ever happens.

  5. Warren,

Isn’t party status up to the Speaker, not the parties?

  6. Warren,

Great minds think alike on NDP MPs crossing over but it’s risky because of Liberal MPs who think they should be in cabinet, will be royally pissed about this. So, my guess is only Ministers of State for both crossovers.

  7. Warren,

Here’s what I would have said:

    TRUMP: Never, say never.

O’DOWD: Oh absolutely. That’s why we’re already in negotiations with Governors Newsom and Hochul to offer them a better deal than they have now as American states. And then I would have smiled broadly.

  8. Warren,

The Clarity Act will never stop separatism. Because any government that is stupid enough to invoke it will have to resort to the force of arms to keep a province in the union. That’s called political reality for Quebec or anywhere else. We don’t need a civil war if it ever comes to that. In short, whatever province gets to go after 50% + 1 in a referendum.

  9. Warren,

Pierre is just another Harper. Ran the show just like Stephen did…

Like I said over at my place, it’s either Byrne or him. So, he had better reconsider. LOL.

  10. Warren,

And by the by, Ron has retired from the business of removing CPC leaders. So, if the rest of them start squawking about removing Pierre, let ’em do their own dirty work. I won’t waste any of my energy on that. Not one second.

Was looking at the CV of the child that just won that recount by one vote. Be interesting to hear how many ballots were discarded and why. It hit me that there are likely a few people like that in caucus now. People who got nominated because they could not find anyone else and now find themselves in parliament. Remember how ten minutes ago, folks were saying that was a bug and not a feature when Pierre won at the same age-that was so cute! But I digress.

This kind of has shades of the 2011 Orange wave and we know how that worked out for the party that surprised everyone.
